As a DIYer I wasn't sure whether or not I actually needed this, but Hey, you can't take it with you, so I ordered it. Turns out I really like it and I hope to get a reasonable amount of use out it. Seems simple enough to set up and use, the drill is sharp and has a case to keep it separate from the bits. Makes a very tight joint and the pocket can be easily filled and sanded. All in all a good buy.

I bought this and the big Trend double jig. To be honest I wish I had only bought this, it easily does what the big one does and was a lot cheaper

Really pleased with this bit of kit, there are cheaper options but this represents better value as it won't fall apart within 5 minutes. The only reason it didn't get the full 5 stars is the instructions are not the easiest to comprehend. Some better instructions would be a plus, or a YouTube tutorial.That said, it's easier to set up than some other ones I've seen and the built in scale makes it quite easy. Take some time to study the instructions, you'll can figure it out eventually and do a test piece before committing it to a proper job.Would happily recommend to a friend.

Drilled 32 holes perfectly I found it useful to drill test holes in scrap wood first to get the position correct

Already have a Trend pocket hole jig that I have used a lot and as this was on offer the price of the kit was the same as a new drill bit

I tried a few test cuts with variable results. I am not the best craftsman but the problems appear to be the result of some design faults. On the bench and drilling into new stock, the jig is fine if clamped very securely. Because it is mostly made of plastic, there is some side flex under the weight of the drill if not supported and guided fully. The instructions are poor but make sense if studied and practised. The main problem is the use of the jig for repair in situ. The slider can be repositioned but the scale does not seem to allow for the thickness of the end-stop. The slider also slides under any pressure of drilling. I think the whole jig is promising a bit more than it can deliver. If ordering again, I would choose the "mini" version which has two bases and guides, all made of metal. The second base allows for repair work in situ. I will keep the single version for some jobs and will try to update this review after trying it again. By the way, Trend, a built in clip for the allen key and a simple storage box would make the whole thing a more complete package.
