Comfortable, inexpensive, solid pistal grip
I bought this grip to mount my Canon 5D Mark II onto. When I first received my package and unwrapped the grip, I felt that there was no way this lightweight grip would be able to handle my 5Dii. Once I mounted everything together along with a 16-35L and a 580EX Speedlite, I was surprised that this grip held its own very well. It felt solid and comfortable and didn't feel like it would fall apart in my hands or endanger my precious 5Dii. The grip has a rubberized finished which helps with grip'page. The divots on the grip for your fingers are molded just about right for medium sized man-hands. Once a camera is mounted to the grip it becomes fairly difficult to unscrew it off your camera. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. I haven't noticed any twisting or shifting while in use. The weight of the camera and lens provides the right amount of balance with this grip attached. I have yet to try a larger/heavier lens such as the 70-200L 2.8 to see if it becomes top heavy and off balance. Hand held footage is now smooth and slightly more stable. My set-up now reminds me of an old Bolex my father use to have back in the day.To make things a little easier since I'm constantly switching back and forth from stills and video, I purchased a Manfrotto 323 RC2 Rapid Connect adapter which allows me to quickly release my camera from the Pistol Grip. Talk about a great gorilla set-up. This is such a great addition to any HD camera/camcorder and will better your footage taking abilities instantly. I highly recommend having one or two of these in your arsenal.

A small accessory that can make a big difference
This is the quickest, easiest – probably cheapest – way to get more stable footage, if you're shooting video with a small camera like a DSLR or M43. The grip is a nice size, has a pleasant (slightly rubberized) texture, and feels good in the hand – it's light, but doesn't feel poorly-constructed. The wide top gives a stable platform for a camera – lots of other handle grips are narrow at the top, which creates a potential weak point when mounted to a camera. The bottom ring (which rattles a bit when moving) can be removed, giving access to another 1/4" 20 mount. I do wish that the tightening ring was made of metal instead of plastic – it's the one place that the grip looks a little cheap. Still, this is a nice, well thought-out accessory that's an easy recommendation for just about any camera bag.

Light and Discrete
A lot has been said on this device-Amazon and elsewhere-so I'll keep this to the highlights:+light weight+black color blends in with camera+comfortable grip+small and portable = size friendly for my camera bag+rock solid grip to the camera+surprisingly, the red label sticks out in low light or night time environments: helpful when shooting in the dark+don't be fooled by the plastic make, very sturdy and rubber grip is comfortable on hand*My biggest concern with the plastic was the handle's ability to stabilize the weight of my camera and any accessories if I kept the camera attached and the handle was secured on top of a tripod. No issue here, in fact, I was amazed how this gave me better control of the camera as my tripod does not have a lever to move the camera around. I am currently using the Dolica GX600B200 Proline GX Series 60" Aluminum Tripod, which I also purchased from and reviewed on Amazon.Honestly didn't have any cons and I will update this review if I encounter any in the future. Thanks for reading this review - Kojifresh

Decent Product, Works Fine, But...
I have never tried a pistol grip on the video cam so was anxious to try it out. Was amazed at the improved feel and greater stability. You lose the ability for one-handed cam operation because your hand is no longer close to the record and zoom controls, but that's worth the improvement in stability. This product has a good feel and overall I'm happy with it. The "but" is that I felt it might be a few bucks overpriced, especially when both brand labels (the red things on the side of the grip that make it look fancy) came unstuck and fell off within the first 10 minutes. Fortunately this is an uncomplicated device so I imagine that will be the only shortfall, and I have no plans to return it. Also, they advertise a "wide base" feature which is as advertised but in actual use I didn't see how it would improve the performance much if at all. It's wider than the base on my cam so it doesn't really have much effect. If I were buying again I'd probably go with something with a similar grip but a few dollars less, since once the fancy labels fell off it looks a lot more like the cheaper ones now!

Perfect for vlogging!
This pistol grip is perfect for my vlogging needs! It makes it so much easier to hold and aim at myself and then quickly turn around to point at others. The screw mount attaches to the bottom of the cameras I've used. I've also used this in conjunction with the Square Jellyfish smartphone mount for when I film with my iPhone. I no longer have to awkwardly hold my phone/camera in an uncomfortable position. The grip is ergonomic, feels great in my hand, and the texture does not feel slippery at all. It is easy to screw into a camera using the red dial, and I've always felt secure having a camera attached to it. I've used it on some very bumpy rollercoasters. It does have an attachment at the bottom for attaching straps, but I unscrewed it because it makes a bit of noise. A plus is that you can then screw the bottom of the grip onto a tripod or other mounts if needed. There is also an extra hole near the bottom of the grip for a wrist strap. One tiny issue I had was that I was questioned about it at the airport by TSA because it was in my backpack as it went through the x-ray machine. I recommend putting this in the bins so that they can easily see it, and keep it attached to your camera or keep it right with your camera equipment so that it makes a bit more sense to them.
