Tru-SpecMen's 24-7 Series Original Tactical Short

So good, I bought another pair.
Awesome shorts. Well made and they do repel water and oil-based liquids. (to a degree). They are very comfortable. I do has some small things I would have preferred they change, but I am not dinging the product because it works as described. Here are the changes I would rather see.1. Reinforced section on the bottom of the front pocket when you clip your folder to.(your knife) I know they have a dedicated pocket to use to hold your knife or whatever, but it's positioned a little behind the front pants pocket and the rear wallet pocket. Also, the front outer cellphone/magazine pocket needs to be a little deeper to better secure larger capacity magazines. My 10 rd mags fit perfectly, but my 17 rd mags not so well. It will hold them, but you have to really pull the pocket flap over to secure the Velcro and it just barely secures. The mag pockets located inside the side cargo pockets do hold the 17 rd mags and also 19 rd mags. The outer phone/magazine pocket will hold two 10 rd mags easily, as do the inner pockets - holding 9 mm mags. There are two inner pockets inside each side cargo pocket. They will each hold a standard 30 rd mag (Magpul or regular mil-spec metal) for an AR platform. I cannot speak for larger calibers. This goes for the pistol mag pockets as well, I carry 9 mm mags in them. These shorts seem to be very well made, they are comfortable. My rigger belts which are pretty wide, fit very nicely. The only thing I will say is that I haven't really put these shorts through the paces with all the pockets loaded with mags. That's not a normal configuration for me. Depending on where I am going I may carry up to 2 pistol mags, but if I need to carry 4 AR magazines, I will kit up. and use a vest. I just say this because adding the extra weight of 4 AR mags and a couple pistol mags could stress the seams and stitching. These shorts would probably hold up to that kind of abuse, but I cant address that specifically. It's probably convenient for range use, but I wouldn't really want magazines slapping me on my outer knees when I'm running around. My bottom line is that for the money I saved buying these vs. 5.11's which I own several of the taclite pants, these are a great buy. The 5.11 have the reinforced pockets that I like, but I don't like them so much to pay $10 more bucks. So for what I paid, I am completely satisfied and in fact bought another pair. One piece of advice: Be sure to turn your shorts inside out before washing them. Don't wash in hot water, do dry on high heat. Wash them in cold water, and dry on low. (same if you have waterproof/rip stop pants) Oh and don't use fabric softeners on them. Besides the obvious fact that they make your clothes smell, I think it can foul up the waterproofing qualities. Because if you've been in the field before, you know that "spring time fresh Downy" doesn't smell like any springtime I've ever deployed to.The pics have notes on them so you can know what I had in the pocket. I didn't test any 17 or 19 rd mags because they did not fit the way I would want them to, so I won't wear.

I'm only rating them 5 stars because I can't give 6...
I'm a fan of BDU style shorts. I've worn out many pairs of BDU pants cut and hemmed to shorts length. These are superior to traditional BDU's in several respects. One, the internal waist band elastic is better than the old style side adjuster tabs on the traditional BDU shorts. More comfortable as well. Second, the cargo pockets have an extra pocket with open top to tuck your cellphone or a clip-style pocketknife into. Third, on the outside of the cargo pocket there is a small velcro pocket, not found on the original BDU pants. Fourth, inside the waistband is an inner button closure. This is in addition to the heavy-duty snap closure. The button is a traditional BDU pants button, which is a nice touch. Other points... The quality of the fabric is very good, nice and not too heavy, with nice stitching.. There is also a purpose-made knife pocket just behind the front pocket near the side seam, it fits my small pocketknife but may be a bit too small some of the larger folders. This is my new standard for shorts... I'll probably buy 2-3 more pairs and get rid of all my worn out BDU shorts. In case you didn't figure it out, I highly recommend these shorts. I purchased these with my own money, and I receive no renumeration for this review.

Nice quality
Good summer shorts and nice fit. I like the quality of tru-spec. I wear the pants for work and shorts for staying cool this hot summer.

Well designed AND Good looking!
First impression is that this is a quality garment. Seams, pockets, zippers, all are clean and function as expected. I am 6' tall and the 44" waist shorts hem falls to right at my kneecap which is exactly where I like it. Appearance is clean and despite having a lot of pockets, has a much neater appearance than typical "cargo shorts". Pocket gussets are very well designed and help keep a neat appearance. Belt loops are wide and sturdy. Included folding knife/utility pockets are a fantastic feature, and they included one on each side which is very well thought out. I find the elastic to be very pleasant as it gives in the midsection when bending, sitting, etc. The only thing I found to be less than desirable for me, is that the leg opening are very large which causes them to be too baggy for my taste and why I deducted a star. However, for my frame, that is very typical for most shorts as I have a large waist but relatively slender thighs. Another notable characteristic of these is that the cargo and back pockets are secured with very nice, broad hook and loop closures. This is an advertised feature and expected, however be advised that it may be somewhat less convenient to access a pocket with "velcro" as opposed to snaps or buttons. Could be a negative or a positive depending upon personal preference or mission requirement. Overall, and especially for the price, I would definitely buy these again.

They are the shining. Fit is spot on. Comfortable AF. Plenty of room for daily carry items

Very well thought-out shorts
I never thought I'd be writing a review for a pair of shorts, yet here we are. These are really fantastic, and in my opinion, the location and sizes of the pockets are very well thought-out. Particularly the "slots" above each of the side cargo pockets - I carry two phones, work/personal, and these are perfect for that. My rather large Note 8 fits with room to spare - actual size is 3.5" wide opening and 6.5" deep. The elastic waist is really comfortable, with a little over 2" of travel, so whether you're at the tail end of a 10-mile hike or the tail end of Thanksgiving dinner, these are really comfortable in the waist. Always snug, but never tight - don't even need a belt. The material is comfortable and durable - feels a lot like the warm weather ACUs - and while they're not waterPROOF, they're certainly water resistant. All said, I know I'll be ordering some more pairs - these are really great and I'd recommend to anyone.

Alright
There is one problem with most pants of this type, they do not have air conditioning in the crotch, which limits comfort. Other than that, great
