Out of the bag it kind of smells like it got wet and didn't fully dry but after sitting out it wasn't so bad. I still took apart all of the 4 pieces Except the actual hat itself and hand washed it with Dr. Bronners Lavender soap and water. It doesn't say the material on the item but it doesn't seem like cotton, except the mouth part is like a cotton mesh. Everything else has kind of a shiny look to it and kind of thin crispy feel? It is nice for shade and protection from wind and dries fairly quickly. Also because it's probably not cotton, it's very lightweight. The back is adjustable by a Velcro strap to fit your head. I have a pretty big head and most hat's don't fit me very well but this hat actually has plenty of room for my head. The hanging pieces attach by snaps and the top crown part attach with a zipper. There is an embroidered word, I think it says "tru ru". I use it when I walk to go pick up my kids. Again, the item is very lightweight and it might not last "forever" with how I take care of my things(Im very rough with stuff) but I think it would be Fantastic for vacations and trips to the beach and amusement parks. I think it might be really cute to add Minnie mouse ears on it too.TLDR;PROS: Big head approved, lots of shade, lightweight, large face shader, inexpensive, adorable casual hat without the hanging pieces, and detachable pieces.CONS: Might be too lightweight for you, be gentle with snaps, slight scent upon opening(I hand washed detachable pieces).

I bought one for driving and going out to protect my skin my sun damage. The hat is comfortable and adjustable based on your face and head size. I got one for my self and my mom. We both like it

Driving a convertible this is great. Huge visor, great back of the neck sun protection. Don’t really want to use the face shield, but can’t anyway because one of the snaps came off. Another small complaint is this ships rolled up. Restoring the visor form to original shape is not easy.

I really like this hat. I’m a certified Pale Person and I need all the sun protection I can get. I also prefer my hair very short, which can leave my scalp exposed to the sun. So, the more coverage the better.What I love:The light blue is a lovely shade.It’s very modular, and everything connects with snaps, loops, or zippers. (Note: The adjustable band in the back is Velcro, which some long haired folk may object to based on hair potentially getting caught in it.)The front mask is very lightweight and breathable.It can be wetted for a quick cool down.The chin strap helps keep the hat from flying off, and it keeps the face mask portion from sliding up over my eyes.The face mask also snaps onto the back neck covering, eliminating any gaps the sun may try to sneak through.The hat doesn’t interfere with wearing glasses/sunglasses... buuut it might take a second or two to figure out how to take the glasses off if all the hat accessories are attached.There’s a gap between the perforated portion of the mask and the lower solid portion, assumably for drinking purposes; I’m the world’s least coordinated individual, but I hope to one day use this without getting a mouthful of mask.Overall, very light and comfortable.Possible caveats:Light blue shows dirt very easily, but this doesn’t seem to stain (so far).Possible ponytail entanglement if one isn’t careful with the Velcro adjustment.Face mask can slip up and cover one’s eyes at inopportune moments, especially when bending down.Face mask is for sun protection only; it’s much too porous to be used for virus or dust particle purposes.I recommend this hat and would definitely buy it again.

Even with recently applied zinc sunscreen my skin burned. I'm unable to find anything about this manufacture online. Over the years I've had 2 squamous cell patches of skin cancer removed from my face (understandably left scarring - so beware) so I'm mindful of the sun and have purchased several clothing items, including a full face cover, from Coolibar a US based company that has received the The "Skin Cancer Foundation's Seal of Recommendation." Anyway, Coolibar's hat, that I wear in the car along with their gloves, is a bit uncomfortable and I thought I'd try this hat. I spent a bit of time in a swimming pool standing up and despite zinc (white) sun screen and the mask fitting my face, my face was quite red. I factored in that water reflects sun but I was careful to be sure the mask was against my Coolibar full body swimsuit (I was also wearing their gloves). I should note that my arms and hands, that were almost always floating on top of the water (protective clothing had full sun exposure) did not have any impact from the sun - no burning not even any color change. Given that my experience is not scientifically verified, I can only say beware. I could not find the company's website to verify how they can claim their cloth is truly UPF 50. Coolibar has extensive info on their site. OK - the good stuff; I found it easy to clean if you simply soak it for a few minutes and successfully used a soft brush on some stubborn spots. Ingenious engineering of many pieces that can be removed all the way down to a sun visor. Take a few minutes to see how the snaps are designed. there is a very sturdy tab of cloth to separate the snaps. If you try to remove the face pieces by pulling on the fabric, it will likely tear as the fabric is thin for easy breathing. A bit of patience will prevent tearing. I had to take off the hat to find the tab that is on the snap. Great price, easy to breath, mine was a bit loose around the nose but my sunglasses on the bridge of my nose kept it in place. Again, I'm skeptical if this is truly UPF fabric so may not use again.

I wear it everyday when I go for a jog or in backyard with the dogs. It fits like a ball cap but it covers the top of the ear so ears don’t get burnt. The brim is wide so it catches the wind more than a ball cap. The chin strap keeps it from blowing off. I love ❤️ it.

This hat is of good quality fabric with a matching mask making it perfect to venture out in hay fever time when windy. Nice wide brim for summer. A good purchase.
