Colloquial Italian: The Complete Course for Beginners (Colloquial Series) 1st Edition

It has been difficult to follow along in class because this book is an out-of-date version. The pages are different, and many of the conversations have different references such as using lira instead of Euros.

The book is very well but you should add a tracking number for the shipping.

I took Colloquial Italian with me to Italy last year, where I was to stay for one year as an exchange student. This language course was fundamental in teaching me the basics ( not just touristy questions like a lot of other courses!).It was so good that I lent it out to other students who were dispairing over the language, and all had similar success with it.Un ottimo introduzione alla lingua italiana, per chi voule imparare facilmente.

I spent hours looking through the numerous language titles. This one impressed me in it's style. By the time I got through the first chapter, I was over the moon!If you are considering getting the book only, DON'T!I have bought many Italian resources (books, software) and if I could only have one, this would be it.The price is impressive as well.

I have no idea why this book is called Colloquial Italian as it is simply a beginners level introduction to Italian. I used it to complement the evening class I was taking and as beginners courses all cover the same things, saying hello, telling the time, asking directions, booking a hotel etc I found it very useful. Each chapter introduces grammar points (although not in great detail), excercises, dialogues (to accompany the tapes) and small texts. I found the book very useful in particular the dialogues and the texts (most which are read aloud). The tapes allowed me to wander around doing the housework and listen at the same time so that I could improve my comprehension and the small texts taken helpd me as a beginner gain confidence. I'm not sure if this course alone would allow you to learn Itlian language independantly but I found it very useful as an aid to the evening class. I could work on both the course book and this book and learn additional useful phrases and expressions. My only compltaints are that the tapes are too short and the english women who introduces each dialogue is so annoying I think she used to read the news on the television in the 1950's!

Practical textbook for spoken and written italian. Bought for 1p and seems to be unread - except that there were Italian stamps in the book used as a bookmark ....
