After trialing these on a 10 mil trail run I was converted from gels. So much easier to open and no mess or stickiness. Compares very positively with gels, which can be awkward and messy and sticky! And the wrapper will decompose. Taste is good, but I cannot distinguish between flavours. Did they work? You bet. Plenty of energy really quickly, just what I need for the Cornish SW coast path! Not cheap but worth the money. Will be used for the Classic 1/4 and the Thirlmere Trot.
