Overall a great adventure with lovable characters
I really loved all the Percy Jackson series. It was wonderful to see how all the parts connected in the end, no lose ends. I love that these books don't leave anything open to interpretation and explain the story very well. I really enjoyed all the adventure, it was great! The characters are also very easy to empathize with, I already miss Percy and Annabeth. The one thing that left me a bit disappointed about this book in particular is that with it being the last one in the series revolving around the first great prophecy, and Percy finally having to play his very important part, I expected more conflict on him. Percy is under a lot of pressure and tension, I think it would have been more realistic, and more pleasing therefore, to see more conflict go on within him, to see him struggle a bit more to make the right decisions and therefore see some growth in his own personality, to go deeper and give more meaning to the "yealding" Hestia talks about. In short: I think we didn't see Percy really "yealding". It seems that everything was a bit too easy for him when it came to making decisions. That felt too unreal. I feel that the whole topic of yielding, maturing, being generous and really having to struggle to get there, which is what most have to go through, wasn't represented in a realistic manner. It was too simplistic. On a final note, as much as I have found this new take on mythological stories fun and entertaining, I'm not sure I'll read the other books in The Heroes of Olympus and The Trials of Apollo series. It gets boring if you only read about the same thing. It would be great if the author wrote about other things besides mythology, and offered us new adventures to read without having anything to do with mythology.

A great conclusion to the series that leaves the reader wanting more.
Rick Riordan started the series and a Children's Fantasy with a young teenage protagonist and he morphed the series to grow along with the characters becoming a much deeper story in the end. While the series does maintain the same feel throughout seeing the characters grow as much as the author was fun. It is written in a first-person point of view that slips into first person epistolary at times. Is engaging to the point that you are never pulled out and you always have to read this one more chapter.Everything really did come together quite well with a conclusion that had a certain gravity in it. Early on in the series the author showed that there was consequences and that not everybody would get away unscathed or alive. I felt that the ending of the series was satisfying and did conclude the series in such a way that it would have been perfectly fine for him not to continue on in the world. However of course he laid the foundation for the next series. As of today he has written several other series based upon mythological Pantheon's as well as a sequel series to this series all contained within the same universe. He found his neech and has stuck to it. I have the feeling that most of his Works will be similar but is quality of writing will make it worth the read and purchase for the most part. This series is appropriate for those ages 10 and up in the beginning but I do think that with the tone of the series shifting and everything that happens you could add a couple years toward the end.

Ten year old loves these
I was afraid that after Harry Potter my son was never going to read another book again because nothing seemed appealing or exciting enough to him. The Percy Jackson series changed that and he is now moving on to the second Rick Riordan series. He says the next series is not as good as the Percy Jackson series, but in general, he likes it too. This is the fifth book in the Percy Jackson series and I think it is really only appropriate if you've read the other four. It is certainly a series and you can make sense of it as a stand-alone book, but it is clearly intended to be part of a series. My son said it was a "very good" last book to the series and he was really sad when it is was done.I'm not sure he would have been talked into reading the first Percy Jackson book himself, but his teacher at school read it to them, and then he was hooked. We are now re-reading the Percy Jackson series together and then our plans are to read The Heroes of Olympus series together as well, so I think it says a lot about the Percy Jackson books that he is willing to read them two times in a pretty short time frame. Overall I am pleased because he is reading and the material is appropriate for his age and he is pleased because he found some books he really likes.

Best in series and a great conclusion.
My oh my oh my. I loved this one. When the previous book in the series, Battle of the Labyrinth, was all set-up to Last Olympian, I was worried Riordan wouldn’t stick the landing or it wouldn’t be satisfying enough.I was wrong.I think about two thirds of this book was all the battle that the entire series has been building to, which was so smart because it made it feel so big and important. There was no last minute gotchas, no subverting the fighting and attrition the war needed. If delivered on the big and epicness that has been promised since book one.My only complaint, and it isn’t big enough to detract from my rating, is just the same one I have for every book in this series. I don’t love Riordan’s writing. I think he needs to slow down and take his time. I’m not saying turn these in to 600 page books, but just add 50 pages to the thing and give us some details and descriptions. Middle grade is plenty able to have depth and I just hope his future series have that in mind. But, for The Last Olympian, I think Riordan outdid himself. This is clearly the best book in the series, and an incredibly satisfying conclusion to everything preceding it. 5 stars.

Absolutely brilliant!
What an amazing way to end this series! This book was absolutely jam packed full of action! I figured we'd get more of a build up but it went straight into the battle pretty early on and it didn't stop from there. One thing I find odd about me liking this book so much is that there is a lot of flashback scenes (Percys dreams & the Gods showing him stuff) and it didn't bother me one bit. I normally really, really hate flashbacks but it is a testament to Riordan's writing that I really loved this book anyway. Every scene felt it had a purpose.I was so glad that so many great characters played a part in the final battle. Clarisse has never truly been a likeable character but in this book she was downright HBIC.There were also so many twists. A lot of them I really did not see coming. Even though we had a lot of clues they were cryptic and open to a lot of interpretation. I did manage to guess a few but in the end it didn't really matter because the ending was so well tied together that it felt like no matter how hard you tried, you could of never thought of it yourself so perfectly. If I was less fangirly about this entire series I could have two complaints about this book. It felt like it tried too hard to be funny at the start (but it soon evened out). There where so many random one liners, that fair enough to Rick Riordan made me laugh out loud, but they weren't really needed.Secondly, everyone turned out to be redeemed or forgiven in some way and not everyone deserved that. In a way it made sense, after all these are just kids. But some of them where just downright evil and others complete brats that didn't deserve to be redeemed or forgiven at all.The ending was sweet and left a lot open so Riordan could write a lot more! And can we please appreciate how awesome Nico is. I had to stop myself at certain points because no way should a person my age be thinking that Riordan's description of Nico was attractive! My two favourite quotes:"If you're heading downtown from Central Park, my advice is to take the subway. Flying pigs are faster, but way more dangerous."&"I kept climbing - past another telkhine who was so startled he dropped his Li'l Demons lunchbox. I left him alive - partly because his lunchbox was cool, partly so he could raise the alarm and hopefully get his friends to follow me rather than head towards the engine "

A spectacular finish for the Percy Jackson series
This is the last book in the series of five that make up the Percy Jackson series. There is a follow on series called The Heroes of Olympus, which features some of the characters from this series, but this is the culmination of this particular five book plot arc.I have been reading these books to my children all summer, and have been as excited as them to finally find out what happens, which is good, because they demand at least three chapters a night, and sometimes more if my voice can stand it. This is not a book you can read as a standalone novel, and if you are new to Rick Riordan's writing I suggest you start with the first book, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.Riordan's books are always action packed, but I think this one is even more exciting to read as it launches us straight into the action and never stops delivering thrill after thrill. My children were utterly gripped.I don't want to give anything away here, so will not go into the ins and outs of the plot, but will say that we all thought the ending was excellent and everything was resolved satisfactorily. An amazing series.

So much love
I have so much love for this series, for the characters and for the journey. Re-reading Percy Jackson reminded me how much I love the story. The feelings provoked by the characters journey and their development, I await to see where Rick Riordan will take us next.

Perfect for adventurous boys
Bought the whole series of Percy Jackson for my 12-year old son who liked a lot all 5 books (including this) and read them during a relatively short time. When he finished the Harry Potter series he was in trouble what to read next so we pick these for him. I am glad we did because the story is good and engaging, adventurous enough for a young boy plus it teaches some about acient greek history (which is a bonus really). I would definietly recommend it.

Couldn't put it down!
As a fantasy genre addict, even though this is classed as a children's book, I was very engaged in the story as an adult. I will be reading the hero's of Olympus saga next.

This book is too good
This time is my second time reading the Percy Jackson series and I have noticed so much more detail. It is unbelievable that a book can be so unique and entertaining. I was never bored and I just got transported into another land. I have learnt so much about Greek Mythology from this book. Each book from the series Are so equally good and I am sad that it has ended for the second time, I recommend this book who want a clever investing easy read. My overall review is FANTASTIC you should definitely get this book!!!!!

The last Olympian
This is the 5th and last book in the Percy Jackson series. Olympus is under attack and its up to Percy and his friends to save the Gods. The whole series was very well thought out and after reading the last book and looking back to the first I can see how it was all building up to this moment and all the little hints along the way. I loved how the prophecy turned out as well. That was a really good twist in the plot right at the end. Overall I thought it was an excellent series with a brilliant and dramatic ending. If you were disappointed that it was all over then consider reading the Heroes of Olympus series. This picks up a few months after this book and stars some of the same characters on their next big quest.

A riveting tale of mythic adventure in a contemporary alternative ...
A riveting tale of mythic adventure in a contemporary alternative world. The Greek Gods exist and through their demigod offspring are still involved in the affairs of mortals.

Percy Jackson book 5
Altogether it was an amazing story. It was great how it all led up and ended with a twist. I still have the other set of books to read and I like how the prophecy hints about the characters in those. I think. The comedy from book 1 to 5 was great. My favourite bit was was when you could open a real website named uglyface.com. Rick Riordan is a brilliant author and I am surprised he is not more popular. Can't wait to read his next book! :)

A truly fantastic read
This book is the last in the Percy Jackson series, apart from the demi-god files, and it is truly a fantastic end to the books.I really enjoyed reading all the books but this book has been one of the best in series. This book has many surprising events and gripping chapters that make you turn the page. I found myself living in a whole new world when reading. I, also, liked the relationships in the books. It really shows exemplary friendships and it even makes you feel the saying "there is more to someone than meets the eye", for those who have read the book will know what character I am referring to.Although I found some of the events predictable, which many of you will, it still completed the book. I am happy with the ending of the book, Rick Riordan has really made the series come to a excited and gripping ending. As Percy Jackson is a now turning into a major film series I can only hope that all the films do the books justice and bring them to life.I recommend teenagers to read this book but it is also suitable for adults. It show the intensity of high school, building friendships and dealing with the bullies as well as showing that when you put all differences aside we are all the same. This book is truly a fantastic read!

I love these books
I love these books, as a 22 year old single working mum there is nothing better than putting your child to bed, cleaning then relaxing with a good fantasy book. I read all 5 in this series within 6 days (dinner breaks inc) i really didn't want to put them down or to finish. Just ordered the Heroes of Olympus books and i hope they are as good if not better than these. 5 stars!
