Engaging, Exciting, Riviting, Couldn't stop once started watvhing
I really enjoyed this movie. the main character reminded me of Rat from the Core movie. The character Keith Oberman turned out to be not what we thought. What would an alien encounter movie be without some men in black?

Christian Sci-Fi B-Movie
I'm giving this four stars because it is one of the rare sci-fi films that has a Christian world view, for that matter, an explicitly Christian theme. I can't give it five stars because it is a real low budget B-Grade film.

Good movie.
It has a straightforward positive story. It was a science fiction movie with a religious under pinning. I mean the movie "Contact" did the same in a sort of the same manner from a different point of view.

Christian propaganda movie with a really odd soundtrack/musical score
Thought I was in for a weird little movie with some interesting take on alien abduction... nope. (I mean, yep, but not in a good way) It's an allegory for religious belief (only "true" believers get the glory of meeting the aliens and seeing their miracles/performing miracles, while all the people who disbelieve in the protagonist being abducted by aliens are seen as close-minded) Then the whole reveal that the aliens have been abducting people for decades... if not centuries... trying to find people connected to this "strong aura" which turns out to be... Jesus Christ. Yep. The aliens did all of this to finally ask the protagonist the question "who is this white bearded glowing dude people seem to be fond of?".It's insane. Also there is zero mention of the protagonist being Christian but apparently he has a "strong aura" for it or whatever... so I think the assumption is that he is, and so are the other main characters in the movie... and that's why they were abducted. But also it's clearly trying to imply that Jesus Christ is 100% a real person and everything in the bible is true, because it portrays Jesus like the white bearded handsome dude that later interpretations in history have shown him to be... Instead of you know... what he originally was supposed to look like.Anyway, about the odd soundtrack/musical score. It starts straight away with the weird orchestral music being played during the first abduction with the lumberjacks. I was hearing these like almost whimsical horns blaring and it sounded like the music was trying to be playful or something... during what was supposed to be a tense abduction scene. Really odd. To me it sort of reminded me of classic movies like Back To The Future or Indiana Jones... like it was trying to have this sort of magical vibe but it fell really short. Then throughout the movie there was weird like 80s pop mixed with synths... trying to create this... I don't know... weird sort of illusion that the movie was retro/timeless or something? It's really odd and distracting. It's like the composer was just doing whatever they wanted and the music stands out in a really bad way. Like badly trying to capture 80s nostalgia. There's also a ton of needless scenes of the characters doing nothing, just to pad the runtime. Do we really need to see them all just sitting around a cabin listening to Beethoven? Or the girl slowly staring up at the jungle canopy while walking across a bridge for way too long? The "love story" if you can call it that, feels really forced and also the actors have NO chemistry at all. The acting is... not good. The main protagonist guy is okay at acting but his appearance is so off-putting that you kind of feel like he's already an alien in disguise or something. The only thing this movie left me feeling was a longing for a really cool alien abduction movie that shows the perspective of the person being abducted, and the isolation and confusion and also possible body horror of being experimented on while up in the spacecraft. That would be really cool to see done well. But that sure isn't this movie.

Was good up until halfpoint
It seemed like a good movie up until they get captured. The android, so-called "secret" facility, dialog between agents, etc was so unbelievable! This movie had promise until they decided to add these lame half robot/half human-like walking robots. Come on. They escape what should be a highly guarded facility that easily & it takes the agents that long to catch up with them? I actually liked the spiritual part in the end, but again, everything wasn't organized right & tons of details & explanations were left out. The cast was good, just cheesy directing/plot.

An enjoyable SciFi Road Movie.
Proximity is an independent movie with excellent production quality. The story is not just a vehicle for visual effects. It tells in a relaxing pace the adventure of a lifetime that a young scientist can't obviously escape. It is not the typical emotional rollercoaster ride, far from it. It tells a story and is not set out to show off just for the effect of it. Proximity is a SciFi-Road movie with a nice change of locations and sets. All visuals are believable, and supporting the story progresses nicely. The movie's quality is excellent, except the score sometimes seems not in sync with the content or emotion. Less would have been more. But it is minor, compared to anything else.I hope this crew will continue and develop more in the future. I look forward to it. It is palpable that the visuals have been designed with a lot of love and attention to detail. Thumbs up, if I may say so.All in all, I enjoyed it a lot.

Left the Science Out of Science Fiction
Where to even begin on how bad this movie is. The lead actor does an okay job, but the fact that he looks about 15 makes him hard to accept in the role. The other acting is sub-par at best. The script is terrible, with unanswered questions such as why does Isaac care about going public with his story in the first place? Why doesn't he release his medical records as evidence? What happened to Agent Graves' father, and what does that have to do with Carl? Now, I get that we're not watching this movie for the science. But the alien language translator? Really?! Far too absurd. And convenient that every word the aliens used had a direct English equivalent. Spanish doesn't even have that, and it originated on the same planet with English. Then there's the thinly veiled Christian propaganda that the aliens are looking for Jesus. Once they get his name, they don't ask how to locate him. Can they travel in time? What are they going to do if/when they find him? Why does knowing only his name seem to help them in some way? It's too late for me, but you can still save yourselves: skip this movie!
