The Salisbury Poisonings [DVD]

This is one of those programmes/films that British television does so very well. In four 45minute parts on one DVD it has you gripped all the way through to the very end. Superbly acted and directed with a brilliant script that covers the whole (true) story perfectly. Knowing it is a true story adds to the tension as it makes you think about all the possible outcomes that could have happened. This is very watchable indeed and certainly in our house it will be watched again and again.

Well written, acted and directed if rather harrowing. It certainly presents the scope of this terrible event with intelligence and factual accuracy!

As I do not live on UK I was not aware of all the details surrounding this dreadful episode, so I was so enthralled by this dvd that I watched it all in one go! Tracy was portrayed with professional dedication, and as always with women in high places, burdened with ever present guilt over neglect of her family. The poisoning was a frightening event, and could happen again. But where do you draw the line between informing the public without causing widespread panic? Some people were set on blaming the authorities, the vultures, sorry, journalists, hell bent on wanting comments from those involved, and the small print of the insurance policy preventing any compensation for the police officer’s family who had lost their home and all their belongings. Considering the severity of the poisoning, and the mammoth task of testing all those who came in to contact with the Skripals, credit must be given to all those who worked flat out to contain the poison. That one person died was a tragedy, but only one was a miracle. I liked the ending which showed the real people involved, but where did the Skripals go afterwards? This superb documentary (?) had to be seen again. As the politicians say, “ Lessons will be learned “.

Like a lot of previous reviewers, I watched this in lockdown and was glued. It mirrored what we were going through as a nation at the time and I can't help but think that if we had Tracy leading the national response to the pandemic we would be in a better place. This is just an amazing drama, beautifully acted, especially the lead actress and presented with an epic finale scene. Thoroughly recommended.

This account had been honestly created and portrays a very difficult time for the investigators and indeed all the townsfolk of Salisbuy. It has been honesty and simply retold and I look forward to seeing the film again to gather those minor points I had missed on the first viewing. Excellent account and I would highly recommend to viewers. It is also a warning to what coud happen if we dropped our vigilence or our defences.. All those employed for our protection (intelligence and physical) have my deepest admiraation, Well done!

I've seen three of the four episodes and found the "suspenseful music and intermittent faux heart beat" sound track about as creative as mud on a rainy day. Some of the acting was quite good, some of the scenes were well done, but there was an overall lack of creativity combined with an obvious need to tell a ninety minute story over three hours. Personally I've combined enjoying it with some genuine annoyance...sorry if this review isn't clear in content and direction, but that also mirrors this BBC production...I can recommend it as long as you're not expecting too many actual surprises...

The price I paid is cheaper than streaming and I can watch it again and again.

Not much in the way of a dramatic plot, but it is an interesting, real-life story about how the town of Salisbury (in England) handled public safety in the midst of the nerve toxin to which a Russian spy, his daughter, a policeman, and others were exposed (which made international headlines) in 2018.

This DVD is made for use in places under Country Code2. The U.S. and Canada fall under Country Code 1. Therefore I am unable to play this DVD. I have been unable to get a response from the seller, as I would like to return this DVD for a refund. Very disappointing!

I love the movie it is one of the best movies I have seen

I haven’t look at this yet, but I wonder if it’s a return. The film wrap was almost off completely and the protective strip has clearly been removed. It may be fine, but I’m surprised Amazon actually shipped this.
