Debases the whole point of a simple contact voltage tester
Packaging advertises itself as a "contact AND non-contact voltage tester".The entire purpose of a contact voltage tester is to NOT sense ANY non-contact voltage. If a multi-function tester has no method to disable non-contact sensing, then it HAS NO USEFULNESS AS A CONTACT TESTER.I'll admit here, that I may not be understanding the instructions for contact voltage-testing. But I'm a smart guy with years of experience doing electric work. If I can't figure it out, then it's an over-complicated simple screwdriver type tester and/or complicated enough that field errors are almost guaranteed. Not a good thing when what you're testing is live power wires.DON"T BUY THIS. Hold out for a no-batteries CONTACT ONLY tester that tells you, clearly and simply, whether the wire you touch with the tester has significant voltage to ground, or not.[...]

a great little tool.
The instructions need improvement(they tried to make more of the tool than what it is) and this in no way replaces a wiggy, but that aside, this is one of the more versatile yet simple tools, that I carry. Contact verses non contact is controlled by how you hold the tool. Non contact use is best for 70V+. Contact is only for 120V or less, and is great for low volt AC(24VAC control circuits)or DC (shows DC polarity). Also makes a decent circuit detector for checking fuses, heat elements, motors, etc. (Not in live circuit).
