Perfect for beginners
Arrived well packaged and they all appear to be in good working order, no obvious broken lead. The pencils themselves are lovely to hold and apply very smooth to the paper, these are my 1st pencil watercolours as I usually use pans but these add a different dimenson and I am very happy with them

Stabilo pencil crayons
Fantastic pencil crayons which take no pressure to colour in. I have bought quite a few of these and will be buying more when needed.

These really work as watercolours, but are best used with dedicated paper
This is a pack of sturdy, comfortable to hold pencils which give lovely vibrant colours when used for detail work or shading. They are fairly soft do you don't have to press too hard.If you want a watercolour effect, you need to add water with a small paintbrush. This allows you to create sweeps of colour across the paper, turning a small area of crayon into a wide but much paler expanse of watered down colour. It also allows you to blend the colours, though this needs a bit of practise. I did find that you need to use quite a bit of water to get the crayons to act as watercolours, and therefore you are best using them with dedicated watercolour paper, as with normal paper it ends up crinkled from the water. This means the crayons are better suited to adults as you probably won't want to provide kids with a lot of expensive watercolour paper.

Nice all-purpose colouring pencils
We have found that these pencils work very well without water: the colours produced with just light pressure are vibrant and consistent. You can vary the shade with pressure. With water the pencils are able to cover large areas with a pastel effect very quickly. Thicker paper is probably better for this, otherwise the water can ruin the paper a little.Adults & children alike will enjoy: negative mark however for the fairly flimsy cardboard case.

I didn't know you could do this with pencils...
My grandson has had a great deal of fun out of these Aquacolor Aquarellable pencils experimenting with using them alongside regularwatercolour painting. I am no artist, but watching him use them and the effects he's been able to get, has been an education. I didn't know you could get this type of pencil, however, if you are using them for water colour painting/enhancing you do need to be using paper/material which will support that use. You get a fairly standard range of colours in this pack of twelve, although you really need somewhere to keep them once you've broken into the pack as they don't come with a wallet/case, which nearly lost them a star, however, they are typically excellent quality pencils as you would expect from Stabilo.
