Stig of the Dump excellent DVD for all ages.
I bought this DVD for my Grandsons 9th birthday. His Mom & Brother watched it when they were young. I thought I should watch it to make sure it was appropriate for my Grandson? Well I can honestly say it was delightful & Educational too, a little part even showed a little bullying which is very much talked about in schools today. I fully recommend this DVD Adults would also enjoy watching it.

Very good film
This was recommended reading for my 9 year old son. I remember the title from my own childhood but never read it. We have done a lot of reading lately so when I saw the BBC had produced it as a tv series I ordered the DVD instead of the book. My 9 year old really enjoyed it and I am sure will happily pick up the book at some time in the future too. Fun story, lots of action and really well done.

Captivating
I have just used this for year 5 narrative and play scripts along with the book.My class were captivated from the start. Each episode lasts 26 minutes and there are 6. What's more if you leave the subtitles on they occasionally include stage directions too.The story does differ from the original book somewhat. It's far more modern and this is good as you can compare the two and the children can relate more to the modern interpretation.I let my own children watch it first, aged 8 and 15 and they both loved it as much as I did when I watched the original BBC version in 1984!Buy it and smile!

very enjoyable
I bought this DVD for my sons after reading them the book, they absolutly loved the series and have watched it several times, the DVD is very good and the actor who plays Barney is excellent, my only critisism is the ending of the book is far better than that of the DVD, although overall would recomend.

stig
The Stig DVD is an excellent educational tool to get boys interested in writing. Although nearly 10 years old it is still loved by my class. Quick half hour programmes mean you can easily fit an episode into a school day. The Snargets provide a view of bullying that it often hard to imagine for the children. Recommend for all ks2 primary teachers to engage your most challenging boys.
