Scheherazade's Feasts: Foods of the Medieval Arab World

Wonderful recipes from the Medieval Arab World for modern cooks
I very much like the way this book is structured. Each recipe starts with the translation of the original source, then has commentary about some of the changes the authors made for modern use, then the modernized recipe. Reading the recipes makes me want to get into the kitchen and cook.

A must if you're a historian and a foodie like me
This book is fantastic. It has the original recipe (written in English), gives you a small history lesson about that dish or one if the ingredients, and then gives you a modern version of that recipe with modern ingredients. 10/10

Interesting Topic But Did Anyone Check for Quality?
The first 20 odd pages of my book are messed up. I seriously thought I was stroking out or something. No page 1. Page 2 starts in the middle of a word, then a few pages later I'm in an incomplete table of contents, then I get page 1 followed by a repeated 2-8. THEN the recipes. At least (I think) the recipes are complete.Aside from that, a lot of the recipes look really good. I like the comparison of the arabic recipe and then the modern translation. I will update when I get cooking.
