The Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade

Though written in 2011 this book makes the number of boat people trying to leave Africa for Europe in 2015 more understandable. The arms trade gives those controlling oil or diamonds the power to control people as well. Arms are durable and easily get into the wrong hands where they can be used to maim and kill those of different belief. This is a well-researched and documented book. I too wonder why the permanent members of the UN Security Council are so keen to finance military research and license overseas arms sales!

Please help here. I have read one third of the book and for some reason it disappeared from my Kindle, never to be found again. How do I get this book back with out a re-order and another payment? What I have read so far is excellent and mind bogling, but would dearly love to read the rest.The Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade

After watching a Frontline episode on the shadow world I bought the book. It was an amazing exploration of the US's complicit involvement in some of the most heinous wars and contentious civil wars that have gone on for years. It's another example of how the government, corporations, and elected officials get away with greed and murder at the expense of innocent human beings.

This is an excellent book!!!! It gives an insight into government to government "illegal" arms trade!!!!

If what mr Feinstein has alledged are true (and it seems to be the case) then our general populations and poor countries especially have reason to be outraged by the profiteering and corruption of our leaders!

Wonder who is selling guns around the world, CIA as well as Chinese Military and Russians. Geo. H.W. Bush was CIA director from Nixon to when he was elected.

Very detailed and in depth. An insight into a world almost all of us know nothing about. A bit too detailed in parts, but investigative journalism isnt the same without this I guess.

It is really a phantastic publication for every military market fan. A lot of information of transactions in shadow. Great source of information on corruption on arms market.

Meticulously researched book. A must read for anyone who wants to understand the global arms trade in particular and corruption in general.

I heard Andrew Feinstein one night on the radio and just had to get his book. It makes wonderful reading and gives one an insight of global arms trading that makes me shudder. Wow !

Amazing book on the reality of war business.

Should be compulsory reading for every one.

兵器商人、兵器産業および兵器輸出に関して、これほど素晴らしい本はいまだかって読んだことがありません。英文は、英国系にしては、単語も簡単で文章も明快である。日本の現政権の兵器輸出推進政策に懸念を持っている方々にぜひ読んでいただき、兵器輸出の危険性について再認識していただきたいものである。　著者は、南アフリカのあのネルソンマンデラ氏の与党であるANC（現在のように腐敗する前）の有力議員で、現在は活動拠点を英国に移しているようです。この本の中心的主張は、すなわち、第１に、「兵器輸出は輸出先の民主主義を破壊するとともに、その法外な利益で輸出元の政治を捻じ曲げ、その民主主義もないがしろにする」ということであり、第２に「兵器輸出によって、紛争の悲惨さは大幅り増幅され、かつ、長引かされる」のであり、第３に「兵器産業は、他の産業分野に比べて、職を作り出すという意味では最も効率の悪い産業分野である」のであり、第４に、「兵器産業は、大変な税金くい虫であり、福祉や教育に回す税金を横取りし、結果として経済の衰退を招く」のであり、第５に、「兵器産業は、大きな紛争が終わると必ず経営危機となるので、自ら紛争を作り出す傾向が強い」ということである。　日本の兵器輸出とその影響を考えるうえで、この本に出てくる英国のサッチャー首相とその周辺の人たちの状況は特に有意義である。すなわち、自分たちの仲間の利益のために地球の反対側まで出かけて行って戦争したのではないか？という疑問。明らかな不正行為を国家機密を盾に追求もされないではにか？という疑問。どこかの国の機密保護法は不正な政治家を守るためにあるのか？という疑問がわいて来るのである。
