Lynyrd Skynyrd were performing in the UK in late 1975, on a tour promoting their third studio record, Nuthin' Fancy. The band were coming off two hugely successful albums, their debut, Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd and 1974's Second Helping, and they had recently changed their drummer (from Bob Burns to Artimus Pyle) as well as their original guitarist, Ed King. The changes appeared to revitalize the band though, which, although down to six pieces, played with more energy and passion than had previously been witnessed. This show features Lynyrd Skynyrd in an environment where they felt comfortable and were at the top of their game. With the exception of the Allman Brothers, most southern rock bands had stayed away from the UK during this period because the country's music scene was so wrapped up in glam, pub-rock and the emerging punk scene. But that didn't scare Skynyrd, who confidently played their brand of riff-driving southern fried rock boogie to near capacity crowds around the British Isles. Kicking off with the raucous Double Trouble, they quickly move into I Ain't the One, from their debut album. Poignant songs like Needle and Spoon are balanced against established Skynyrd rockers such as, Saturday Night Special and Gimme Three Steps. Songs like Whiskey Rock a Roller, JJ Cales' majestic Call Me the Breeze, and the ultimate boogie, Sweet Home Alabama are played here in their original form, and it is somehow strangely ironic that many of these classics would re-emerge as part of the must-do repertoire of so many country artists. The band ends the show with a predictable, but crowd-pleasing version of their radio hit, Free Bird, which clocks in at 12:20. Sadly, the group were destined for tragedy, when 3 of their members, including lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant, died in a plane crash less than two years after this show was broadcast across the USA on the King Biscuit Flower Hour.

This is a great show and includes three songs (I Got the Same Old Blues, Simple Man, and T for Texas) left off of the official release "Authorized Bootleg: Live/Cardiff Capitol Theatre - Cardiff, Wales, Nov 4 1975." All of the tracks still fit on a single CD so I'm not sure why they were left off. I recommend this for any Lynyrd Skynyrd fans as long as they understand this is a bootleg and it's not going to sound as good as an official live album like "One More From the Road." It's a great show, a great recording and other than the mix being a little muddy, damn near perfect. It's one of the best bootlegs that I own based on the quality of the content and the quality of the recording. I ordered three different bootlegs from Amazon at once and this one was easily the best. A little better than AC/DC's Live '79 - Towson State College, Maryland October '79 and far superior to the piece of crap from Gold Fish, Guns n' Roses Perkins Palace 1987 Pasadena, CA 30/12/87. Taking the Biscuit is on Gossip. Gossip also did a really good job with Guns n' Roses New York New York Live at the Ritz 1988.

Not the supplier's fault, but not much unreleased material on this. Good sound, quick ship, though!
If you have the Skynyrd Live in Wales disc, you actually already have this with the exception of two new tunes. Glad to have it, and shipping was quick, but drives me crazy when bands allow shows to be released under different CD cover art.

Flyin High ....Cardiff 1975
If you have been purchasing the recent plethora of radio broadcasts currently being released,no doubt under dome semi ligit legal mumbo jumbo, then you'll be aware that the quality, specifically sound quality varies greatly, its a pleasure to advise that this release is easliy the best sounding of the dozen or so from the likes of AC/DC,RUSH,SKYNYRD,KISS,BOC & JOURNEY to name but a few, this sounds superb.I had previously purchased the 2009 released 'Authorised bootleg' sanctioned by Geffen, however this has 3 additional tracks missing from that release, namely 'I Got The Same Old Blues','Simple Man' & ' T For Texas', which i believe makes this the complete broadcast.Recorded in Cardiff '75, i had the original vinyl bootleg 'Flyin High',mis titled as bootlegs usually are as Live 1977',it also missed out the 3 additional tracks now available,so this makes this release VFM and a must buyNothing really needed to say about the gig, Skynyrd on fire, superb sound quality and a performanve the equal of the celebrated 'One More From The Road' released in 1976.Just buy... you wont regret it.

GREAT SOUND QUALITY!
GREAT SOUND QUALITY!that's mainly what i wanted to say because there is some very poor live stuff out there.i don't know about previous releases of this broadcast but this one sounds as good as most major label live album releases.content is great with tracks not on "one more from the road", and historically fascinating because it's from the period when they were down to two guitars.IF YOU'RE A SYKNYRD FAN DO NOT HESITATE - YOU'RE IN FOR A TREAT.

Skynyrd live 1975 Classic 1975 Broadcast
Lichtblick hier: mit den Stücken Same old Blues, Simple Man u. T for Texas sind hier Stücke dieses Konzertes enthalten, die bisher m.E. auf keiner "Cardiff-Veröffentlichung" enthalten sind. Qualität der CD ist ok. Wegen der Irreführenden Werbung nur4 Sterne.
