works as described, nice product
nice product works as designed and described. I use it to filter water from the canal behind my house to my irrigation so the sprinkler heads don't clog. It washes out easily

FUNCTIONALITY
These are great. I have 2 of them one for the house and one for the sprinklers. . I drained one of our water heaters last week after 25years,, It had just sliped my mind. Because we have had no trouble. Well I got about a1/2 gal of super fine sand out of it. Not bad for 25 years. GET YOU ONE!

The filter and the unit work as described, but not what I need.
I have the units installed on a rainwater harvesting system. One for each 3,000 gal tank. The water is collected and pumped to the tanks. The issue is the debris coming from the collection sumps. First day I had a salamander stuck in the inlets. I constantly get small rocks stuck in the inlet holes. This causes the pressure to build in the lines and/or overheat the pumps. I intend to install a debris filter in front of this filter. Cross my fingers.

Ball Valve Is Garbage, Product Is Otherwise Great
Great product, leak free. Does exactly what you'd expect. I installed this before my softener to extend the life a bit. I am a little concerned about the cheapy plastic red ball valve breaking, as it feels very flimsy and it creaks in a bad way when I turn it. I may just replace it with something less garbage. Seems like just .5" NPT. The ball valve feels like the one thing they cut corners on, and I wish they didn't.

Good filter
My house had one of these in it to filter particulates from my well water just before the softener. One night while flushing the bottom valve broke when I went to close it. The red handle split in two. Luckily I was able to close it with pliers. I ordered this one as a replacement from Amazon. You can't easily get individual parts for these so I ordered the whole thing. This one fit exactly like the one that was installed in my house in 1996. One modification that I did make was I installed a 1/2 brass bodied threaded ball valve rather than the plastic one that comes with this one. The filter that comes with this filters down to 61 microns. Rusco lists this filter as a 250. The higher the number the finer the filter. In a well application this 250 should be used as a secondary filter with a 100 or lower primary. With my particular well it will plug with iron and dirt in a few days using only a 250. I went back to my original filter which is a 60. All in all its a very good filter unit just keep an eye on the plastic ball valve on the bottom.

Resilient
I watched a video of a pressure test pitting the rusco against some other spin down sediment systems and it was impressive to see the rusco holding at over 800 psi. The others tested failed at half the pressure. If you have high levels of iron in your water any metal will attract deposits where as the all plastic design of this won’t. I also like the full range of inlet sizes. I think it goes from 3/4” up to 2”! In fact I purchased a 1-1/2” and used bushings to mate to the 1 inch pipe that goes from my pump into the house, I figured it would be less likely to restrict the flow and I was right. The issue I’m having isn’t sediment from my well but build up of iron in the pump itself. Over time the iron oxide scale breaks off and clogs my faucets & appliances. This filter has eliminated the problem. My only negative is the drain valve supplied with the kit. It’s a cheap schedule 40 valve and is difficult to turn thereby putting stress on the filter body. I solve the issue by purchasing my own schedule 80 valve that is silky smooth and easy to turn, it was a five dollar fix. All other claims made by the manufactures seem to be accurate, it’s easy to flush and easy to service. All in all I am extremely pleased with the product and recommend it. I’m not associated with this product or any product or seller. I’ve never received any product or compensation in return for my reviews.

Good replacement!
Had to replace an old one. Easy to install, but it took some rigging to get a hose attached for draining. I’ve only had it going for about a month & the plastic is either discoloring or being scratched up, or both, as the plastic is getting foggy. I do have very hard water with iron. But seems to be doing the job.
