Fantastic Designs but printed double-sided and across two pages makes it less than friendly for the colorist
The media could not be loaded. Attached to this review will be a silent flip-through of the entire coloring book so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not it will work for you.Rather than discuss how this is like or different from the TV series, I will discuss only how I feel about it as an adult coloring book. While the book has great designs, it also has a number of issues that make it difficult to work with. I dithered between a three star and four star rating but went with four because the designs are really extraordinarily good. The designs are fantastic for coloring. They are well drawn with a nice level of detail where I want it and a lack of detail where I would prefer to add my own shading, etc. It feels a little weird to be coloring the faces of actual individuals (and those who have spent many an hour in my house albeit on my television screen.) Using the coloring tools that will work best with this book, I will have fun with it. Maybe do a little Andy Warhol riff with unusual colors on some of the characters.Physically, the book is well made. The front and back covers flip out with a scene of London that can be colored. The designs are printed on both sides of the page. The pages are a good heavyweight and white; however, they are not perforated. The sewn rather than glued, so removing the pages from the book involves snipping several strings in a couple of places. Most of the designs span across two pages and merge into the binding. Though I will remove the pages from the book, it may be difficult to line up pages and that makes coloring in this book less fun. As there are so many of these designs that will be effected, I have detracted a star from an otherwise good book.My particular book had two issues which may not be in others. On a number of pages, my double sided images did not line up. That happens sometimes. The other problem with my book was that there were four rippled pages. Amazon is replacing my book as it was obviously damaged in printing. I am not taking away points for this as mistakes can happen and it is being fixed for me.All of my markers, both water and alcohol-based, leaked through the page. None of my gel pens bled through to the back of the page. My colored pencils all worked well on the surface of the paper. Given this, I would not recommend using markers in this book if you want to color each page as you will definitely ruin the design on the back of the page otherwise. In summary, a coloring book filled with great designs but which has a number of physical issues. The book could have been improved in a number of ways, such as printing on one side only and if not, using a better grade of paper which allows markers to be used without seeping through to the backside. Perforated pages would have been nice. But the real improvement would have been to have less designs that span two pages. If you must do this, 1) make sure the images line up properly and 2) give us some room at the bound edge to be able to get our pencils and pens in to draw.

Great pictures and so relaxing!
This is how our 19 year old nursing student relaxes. The pictures were clear without fuzzy lines. The paper is sturdy and the binding is flexible so as not to ruin pictures (you do not have to remove them to color them). She loves the book and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Not elementary at all!
If you are looking for a book with some serious complexity then this one will be perfect. There are some portions of the images in this book that you may require a magnifying glass--which I suppose is appropriate for Sherlock, to view and colour. The pages are dual-sided, so a wise choice would probably be to use coloured pencils rather than markers, or leastways, use pens that trust not to bleed-through and ruin the other side. There is a good variety of images in this book and the characters look very realistic.I enjoyed just flipping through this book even, as the artwork is very carefully crafted and the images are interesting. There is a nice feel to this book. It is weighty and has good binding and beautiful covers. I am impressed with the designs that were included and can see this being many hours of relaxing fun. I would definitely say it is worth the purchase price. Happy.

Color me Sherlock
This coloring book is beautifully made. Keep in mind, those reading, that it's not like the coloring book you would give a child.Coloring books like these are intricate, and should the owner choose to color them, they are actually intended to make for good stress relief.I'm a HUGE Sherlock fan, so when I heard this was coming out I had to get it. I love it, and it's really very beautiful, and smooth to the touch. I would definitely recommend this! Makes a great gift for any Sherlock fan!

I am in love with Sherlock
I am in love with Sherlock, and I was super excited to get the coloring book, however, I was a bit disappointed that the artist felt they had to put the contouring lines on his face, and in some of the drawings. I want to shade it how I wish, not how the artist thought it should be. The details are great, and there is enough big/little spaces for the colorist to enjoy it.

Great Gift Idea
I purchased this as a gift for my daughter, but I have colored in it as well. The pictures are quite true to life and if you are a Sherlock fanatic like we are, you'll love this item. The whole book is very high quality and well worth the price. It made a wonderful gift and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for that unique item for their favorite Sherlock Fan.

Paper quality is a real disapointment.
The variation between the heavy line pictures on some pages and the light line images on others is rather unappealing. The heavy lined images look of poorer quality. The paper is also much thiner and of poorer quality than other colouring books that I have. It doesn't handle light water colour very well, and felt tips at all. I'm torn with this one. Some of the images are fantastic, others just look ordinary. It's a shame about the paper quality. All colour books really should have a tested paper for Ink, light water colour and pencil. Also, this was part of a package with other goods. The delivery after leaving Amazon was held up for a week and when it arrived had been opened and missing the receipt. While this can't be directly related to the quality of the product, I am tired of the inconsistent quality of the delivery from Amazon and Royal Mail and feel it needs to be addressed.I didn't deduct a star due to this delivery issue, but do want to continually point out when the delivery pisses me off. As I'm rather tired of it. If Royal Mail continues to give such poor delivery service, Amazon really needs to find another source.

Coloring, My Dear Watson?
This Sherlock coloring book is exceptional. My daughter is a huge fan (aged 20!) and she loves this book. The pages are thick and drawn wonderfully. The coloring book is high quality, too.Artist Mike Collins has vividly captured lots of scenes from the Sherlock TV show.A critical clue from each episode is hidden within the original black and white illustrations. Once you color and complete the scene, then you find the clue. You get 80 pages of fun and intrigue!

the only problem is that alot of the pages are fairly bland images that don't really inspire you to want to colour them in at al
This was bought as a gift for a fan of Sherlock. It's ok, the only problem is that alot of the pages are fairly bland images that don't really inspire you to want to colour them in at all and some are pretty badly realised as well. It's ok as a gimmick present, which essentially is why I got it, but overall it's not the best quality.

The book had a massive dent in one corner and it looked like it had been kept in a cupboard
The book itself is okay. It is mainly black block lines instead of the smaller ones in which you can colour. The book had a massive dent in one corner and it looked like it had been kept in a cupboard.
