Everything worked fine. I was a little surprised that the battery ...
22 days after receiving this generator, we had a 20 hour power outage. Needless to say, I was under the gun to get everything ready to hook up and going. When it arrived, I immediately unpacked, assembled and test ran the unit. Everything worked fine. I was a little surprised that the battery was charged up, so I just did not think about putting it on a charger. When the power went out, the battery was dead. It only took about 3 pulls to get the unit running. The conditions were 30 degrees and raining. After 1 hour it stopped running. 20 lb. LPG tank had frozen up. Switched out tank and started it back up and it ran another hour before stopping again. Switched that one out to find the same situation again. I gave up on LPG and put my only gallon of gasoline in and ran until that was gone. The next morning the weather conditions had improved to 34 degrees, so I tried LPG again and had no problem with it freezing up. After reading about LPG freezing when using from a small tank, I will always use gasoline, if the temp is around freezing. I also now have the battery on a float charger, so it will be charged up when needed. The reason for going so much into detail about LPG freezing is to remind new users to be aware of this problem and either use gasoline under those conditions or pull from a larger LPG tank. There is much information about that on the internet. All that said, the problems that I encountered were not the fault of the generator, but my lack of knowledge of how LPG works in those conditions. Pleased with my selection of this generator and would recommend this unit to others.

I have run Honda and Champion generators in previous years and this Smarter Tools running on propane gave me the best operation
I bought this to power the sound system on our art car at this certain annual Burner event in a place call Black Rock City. I was apprehensive because we usually chew through generators in the harsh and extremely dusty environment of the playa. I took it out of the box at the event, added the oil, hooked up the propane, turned the key and the generator started immediately. We proceeded to run 10 self powered PA's and Sun Woofers rated at 2000 watts each peak for 80 hours over 6 days.A five gallon tank of propane lasted about 8 hours of continuous running.I cleaned the air filter out twice a day, and never had to add oil over the course of the festival. I have run Honda and Champion generators in previous years and this Smarter Tools running on propane gave me the best operation of anything to date. The propane exhaust was cleaner, the refueling easier and spill free , and overall the engine appeared to run cooler. I had low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. In this case I feel like I got more than I paid for. I will probably buy another one.Ps. I did not have to tighten or re-tighten any bolts or nuts at any time during its operation.

you gotta fill the crankcase kinda like a differential -till it pours out the fill hole ...
I've been using this generator as my off-grid back up power for about 6 months now. I connected a generator controller to it that receives a signal to start/stop from my solar charge controller. I can also start/stop the generator manually. Im impressed with this Chinese unit. There is one problem ive encountered however. Multiple unknown (for a time) shutdowns. The oil level switch in the crankcase will shut the engine down if its a teaspoon low. Also, you gotta fill the crankcase kinda like a differential -till it pours out the fill hole then screw the dipstick in (it doesnt look right). THE LOW OIL LIGHT ONLY COMES ON (dimly) FOR A FEW SECONDS WHILE THE ENGINE SPUTTERS TO A STOP. Unless you're staring at it while the engine is shutting down you'll never see it "light up". Ive got almost three hundred hrs on one and this has been the only "issue". I installed an elec. actuator for the choke and have only ran propane through it. It starts every time whenever my battery bank voltage falls below the set point i programmed . It started no problem, in a trailer, in single digit temps -all winter.

Nice piece of equipment
I purchased this generator in 2015 and it has been running great. Currently at 40hrs of run time with the most recent extended power outage being hurricane Dorian. This generator will run the entire 1300sq house including the heat pump and refrigerator but not the hot water tank(9000 watts). Still on the original battery and starts on propane every time in 2019.

Nightmare Generator Engine.
This generator is definitely been a pain in the neck. The pull rope kicks back so hard that it can pull you off your feet and has snapped the handle off twice from the pull rope. The electric start battery is weak and doesn't hold a charge for even a month. The worse part is the valves, which tied up so tightly once that I had to have the generator serviced, and to get the company to cover this under warranty was a nightmare of phone calls, emails. Once the generator was serviced, I brought it home and after a month it began exhibiting the same symptoms again. Now, the company states that they won't cover "tight valves" under warranty even though the generator only registers 1.9 hours and is less than 1 1/2 years old. In order to start the engine, I have to pull the rope carefully to release the compression on the piston, and then use the electric starter to start the engine. In addition, you MUST turn off the gas valve and let the engine run out the fuel in the carburetor after each use, or the float will stick open in the carburetor and you will end up with fuel in the oil chamber and then the low oil cut off will prevent the engine from starting, until you drain the oil case, refill with oil and hopefully start the engine quickly, sometimes a tap or two on the carburetor will cause float to unstick, but that doesn't work every time. Now the company through the warranty service company states that the valve tightening and the carburetor float are operating as designed and therefore not covered under warranty, also the warranty explicitly states that valve tightening is not covered. I guess the company expects these problems to occur so they have covered their asses from the git go.
