Waste of mony
Wow, what a waste of money. Where should I start ... First of all opening the tray for the batteries is really difficult. Then after it turns on you should install WIFI. There are 3 led's on top of this unit, that can emit 3 colors, green, orange and red. However the 'orange' color is really close to the green color, in fact, first I thought it was green but after a while I realized this was 'orange'. Then, can't even get the WIFI connect. I have a wifi MESH network, maybe that's the problem, but oh well. Either way, what's the use of connecting the WIFI anyway? The manual doesn't state any use!! There's no app, no way to access the device. So in short, decided to use it without WIFI.The installation manual contains almost no pictures. I'm fairly technical skilled and figured it out myself but the manual was really worthless. Then what I THINK should happen is that the green LED should turn on when water is flowing. It doesn't. I flushed the system 40 minutes (manual stated 30) and with a lot of water flow. First water came out 'white', then after a while it seemed to get colorless normal water. However when I test the water for purity, it's 27 ppm out of the filter, while the unfiltered water has 22 ppm, so it even ADDS stuff to the water!!So in short, paid $1000 for a system that makes my water quality worse. My old $500 system filtered to 11 ppm. This really has been a horrible investment.

NEXT GEN "TECHNOLOGY" A JOKE + OUTRAGEOUS MAINTENANCE COSTS
I have owned an Aqualuxe undersink model since the end of 2016, so this review represents almost four years of use. No doubt that $1,200 is a bundle for a water filter, but I bought into the Aqualuxe based on several factors: 1) the promise of "connected" technology that would allow me to monitor water usage and filter condition 2) Advanced filtration of emerging contaminants and viruses 3) Reasonable maintenance costs estimated by Multipure to be $150 per year 4) A sleek design that allowed for easy filter changes. 5) A reasonably strong flow rate of .75GPM. Well, three of those five reasons have turned out not to be as advertised.First, the "connected" wifi technology has been, and continues to be, a joke. Back when I bought this filter, I assumed it was a work in progress that would someday function as promised. Never happened. There is no app or ANY way for you to monitor the filter via wifi. You connect to an IP address, supposedly the Multipure office which then monitors... what exactly? I have no idea. Every once in a while, I get an auto-generated email from Multipure that says something like, "We haven't heard from your Aqualuxe in 8 months." One time it was over a year. So THAT is the Aqualuxe wifi feature. Then there's FilterSync technology, the primary purpose of which seems to be to insure that you don't use non-Multipure filters... if you do, the Aqualuxe will register that your filter needs to be changed. But it's also supposed to monitor the condition of the filter and to tell you, via lights on a panel. when filter is down to its last 50 gals of capacity and also when it needs a change. In four years, I've never seen it work. The lights always say my filter has good capacity, even when flow rate is down to a trickle. Another joke.Next, there's the flow rate, rated at .75 gpm, which is very good. Too bad you only get that for a short time. I'm in month 3 with my current filter--which Multipure estimates that you'll only need to change once per year, lol--and the flow rate is down to .25 gpm. I also live in NYC, which is known for having some of the best quality water in the country, so no reason for filters to be clogging quickly. I find that I get about a month of .5-.75 gpm, then it goes downhill rapidly from there. Then there's the maintenance costs, which Multipure estimates at one filter change per year at $150 per filter. Well, when I was living alone and rarely home, I was going through at least 2 filters per year. Now with Covid, and living together with my girlfriend, we'll hit 4 filters for sure, maybe 5 this year. If you had a family, you'd either need to be rich or go broke on water filters.A few good things I can say for the Aqualuxe is that it is a nice, modern design, it connects to existing plumbing very easily, and filter changes are easy compared to other systems. In addition, none of its connections have ever leaked, while its leak detection system is very effective--It sensed a leak under my sink caused when a small hole developed in the sink's drain pipe, and it alerted me with persistent beeps before water damage started happening. But is that worth $1,200 plus a fortune in filter costs? Not a chance. It's a shame that Multipure continues to market the Aqualuxe as if many of its promised features actually worked, but after four years of use, I know through long experience that they don't.Thanks for taking the time to read my review and I hope you find it helpful in making a buying decision.

We love it!
We purchased this system from the manufacturer about a year ago, as it wasn't available on Amazon at that time. The water was white at first, because there was air in the water, and they tell you to expect that. I purchased a water test kit about 2 months in because I wanted to be sure it was working, and it was. We love it!
