Not North American Standard for Sound
One-Year Update:The stereo pilot has died and the range is reduced. The display still shows the "ST" for stereo transmission, but none of my radios will detect the signal as stereo. The range around our 10 acres has been reduced. The transmitter will need to be replaced.I've used the transmitter on low-power with the included rubber antenna for the past year. No customization to the unit.Original Review:Short version: Expect muffled sound, compared to commercial radio stations. Turn up the treble on your source to sound normal.Longer VersionFM broadcasts include a special tone curve (known as "pre-emphasis") to reduce the noise for the listener. Most of the world uses a gentler curve than North America. The curve in North American transmitters and receivers is steeper. How does this impact this transmitter? Since this transmitter has the gentler, international curve, the listener will hear a muffled sound. Receivers sold in North America expect the steeper curve. How can you compensate? Turn up the treble (high frequencies) of your audio before you send it to the transmitter.AdditionalDistorted Sound: Even though this transmitter includes a simple audio limiting device, it is very easy to overwhelm the transmitter when the audio is too loud. Heavy, deep bass causes particularly bad audio when overdriven. To get the best audio, reduce the deepest bass and carefully adjust the audio input to avoid distortion. Distorted audio can cause interference to other frequencies across the FM band.

FCC 47 CFR 15 Compliant!!!!!
This is the second of this specific transmitter I have purchased this year. My wife and I are both United Methodist Pastors and when COVID-19 hit, we pivoted to drive-in church. We were both sent to new churches (Methodists arent called to a congregation - we are appointed by the bishop) and had to leave the first one behind. We ran this transmitter using nothing but a Blue Yeti USB microphone into a laptop that we hooked the headphone jack into the transmitter. We were able to broadcast songs and voice using nothing but thost three things.Setup is a breeze. The hardest part was finding a channel with enough space above and below so we didn't step on enyone else. I would reccomend having a FM radio nearby when setting everything up to listen to what is being broadcast. It is possible to overdrive the signal and the result is fuzzy. But when you balance the audio & voice in, the result is impressive. There is a reason we went back and bought another on our own so we didn't have to leave it somewhere ... it's that good!Don't mess around. Buy this! I am already thinking about what I can use this for ... I have been thinking about a Christmas light display set to music for some time now ... hmmm. HONEY, I wanna' do something!

Small but more powerful than I expected.
When I received this I initially thought this was not going to be powerful enough but it was surprisingly powerful to reach a city block with a clear line of sight and about half that distance when going through concrete walls. But this was perfect for our needs. The build of the unit is sturdy, the antenna felt really well made. The connection is regular 3.5mm and you do need to make sure you roll off some of the lower frequencies to avoid static. But it worked great for our application to broadcast into the parking lot across the street.

Satisfied with purchase...but...
The product was delivered on time and was just as advertised. However, the instructions which came with it were apparently written by someone with a limited understanding of English, and didn't make sense in some portions. So I had to figure most of it out myself. It wasn't impossible, but just keep that in mind if you purchase this. It would be helpful if you had someone with a basic knowledge of sound systems. Experiment to find the best frequency for your area.

Great for churches!
We have a pretty large parking lot and this thing comes in loud and clear. We did have to put it near a window to get the best reception. Churches looking to do something outdoors will love this unit. Plenty of power for even a large parking lot.

Great FM Transmitter
I purchased this FM transmitter for my Christmas display that i put up, and ive got to say, that it has exceeded my expectations. ive never had prior experience to using FM transmitters, but the overall process is pretty simple and easy to understand. i could be 2 blocks away and still hear the music playing from this little thing! just make sure that you adjust the volume levels on the transmitter if the sound is all static-y, it takes a little playing around to get to the perfect sound, but once it’s set up, it’s perfect! finally ended up getting feedback from the neighbors on the programming and music of the show, since people can finally hear it in their vehicles without me having to blast music into the street. i havent had this many people stop by to sit in their cars and watch the show for as long as they did this year. im a little late to the game, but this is definitely a must have for light shows! also got this item on black friday, so the 20 or so dollars off was an added bonus!

Long range coverage
We have drive in movie nights and other events in our parks and decided to try to broadcast over fm signal. A lot of these transmitters claim to go a long way but I was pleasantly surprised that this unit covered out entire park without any loss or change in signal. I do not know what the max is because we have not tried different areas yet but we have been able to get a strong, clear signal at least 300 yards from the source. This unit is small, lightweight and easy to use, I would recommend to anyone who needs a portable fm transmitter.

Good after 1 week
Great product after 1 week. We hooked it in to our church sound mixer to do a parking lot drive in service. Easy to hook up. Some good YouTube videos on the setup out there. It is worth the money.
