Nice little instrument.
This is the 3rd Clarineo that I’ve owned. I don’t remember what happen to the 1st one. My second one doesn’t have an Ab key, which I need. Also, it was old enough for the elastic on the the ligature to have stretched, not holding the reed in firmly. Moisture would collect on the side rails of the mouthpiece making the instrument unplayable. My new one is a Clarineo 2 which has an Ab key and a new mouthpiece/ligature. It plays well. An old note on line said that an Eb mouthpiece could be used on the the Clarineo. I used a Yamaha 4c Eb mouthpiece w/ a Royal 1.5 reed. Worked well. Sounded good. I’ll save the 4c for future use.

Quite nice
I bought it with a little fear but the truth is it's pretty good. It's not out of tune like I thought it might be, it has good weight and size. I'm 23 years old and I've never played the clarinet before and it's excellent for practicing.

A solid plastic/child/toy instrument
My rating is for what this product actually is per the manufacturer, a plastic clarinet for a Child, not a "real"/substitute clarinet.I am a musician (other instruments) currently disabled with *extremely* weak chest muscles. I am utilizing this as my rehab and can safely play while in bed and set it aside anywhere without worry of damaging it. It is light, easy to use, and sound quality is surprisely decent for what it is. Everything you need is included.A few cons:-Ended up purchasing a silk swab; the included swab is too thick. My first swab broke and became lodged inside; took several extremely tedious hours to remove it. The manufacturer sent me a replacement swab but it is the same cloth which takes careful maneuvering to pull through (no child would be doing this).-Some rough edges. Nature of plastic manufacturing of small parts but I can image a child getting cut. Should not be a problem during normal playing of instrument.-No issues with the reeds itself but finding additional ones may be a challenge as they are not normal reeds. The manufacturer has a free downloadable book, Play It Today, which is great to get started for an older child or adult and covers quite a bit; for a very young child, it may be too advanced. I also have Windstars 2 (not normally free). It's quite basic and likely good for a young child, the intended audience; an adult can skip it.I have recommended this company to my friends with young children.

Worst instrument I ever played
Maybe I got a defective one or a returned item, but I could not get a good sound or even a note out of this clarinet. I play the clarinet in band, and have my own regular instrument. This feels like a toy and takes a lot of breath pressure to make a sound, and even then it came out sounding wrong. I could hardly do a scale, I watched videos on YouTube, but maybe they got a different model because the one I got was unplayable. Disappointed because I wanted an instrument I could just leave around and play whenever. But no… 3 yrs exp in band.

Nice sound
Use your regular reeds for better control. Fingering is simplified for both your hand pinky fingers, thus plan ahead if reading from a clarinet standard score. The sound is mellow though not as deep as standard wood. Crisp and nice, light enough you grab it more often without a thought.

hard to tune
Jury is still out on this. I am a life long clarinet player and picked this up to play with a group I am in that is made of of other instruments in C. I thought it would be a great addition to complement my other C melody instruments with out the annoyance of having to transpose on the fly with my B flat clarinet Sitting down with a tuner proved being in tune could be problem. It seemed to vary by reed, cane versus the plastic reeds. Some relief was attained by adjusting the bell and mouthpiece. I need to spend more time with it to find the right type of reed is my working theory.Adapting to the fingers on this instruments was smooth reminded my of my Albert system clarinets. Wish the middle A key was a bit larger for my adult hands but I had no problem with right hand lower keys hit them every time. I could see a young player learning this and then moving on to a standard B flat student clarinet. But some more thought has to go into being able to tune it. maybe adding a middle joint to allow for more tune ability like in a standard clarinet my help in the middle ranges.

Godd for children or adults with small hands.
Very well made plastic clarinet with a surprisingly decent sound. But be aware: the clarinet is an Eb clarinet, not a standard Bb one, thetefore it is smaller and as a consequence the tone holes are much narrower/ close to each other. I am a beginner adult with big hands and I find it quite difficult to play it because of this. So, I would certainly recommend this clarinet for children or adult beginners with small hands, but for adult guys with normal size or large hands...the jury is still out debating!...One more thing that orevents to give 5 star: Nuvo has replaced the reed ligature on the new models with a different one that is supposed to be easier to use, but I don't like it very much because it does not keep the reed firm enough.

Great for learning clarinet!
I’m an adult who is interested in learning to play the clarinet. This thing is a great tool for that. Instead of an expensive actual clarinet, or a cheap “student” model, buy this and see if playing the clarinet is something you really want to do. It’s very low maintenance, easy to tune (if you need to), lightweight, and has sufficient range to play lots of easy songs.

Fantastic lightweight clarinet!
Bought as a present. Recipient delighted. Clarineo now sits on a multi-stand with flute and tin whistle in the work-from-home study, ready to be picked up at a moment’s notice.Build quality is excellent. The finish is great—no spruey bits or pinholes. The included plastic reed sounds and plays well. Natural reed (1 provided) sounds even better. Jazz sounds jazzy, Mozart sounds like Mozart. People see the white plastic construction and expect to be disappointed. They’re blown away!Authentic clarinet tone and fingering system. The only difference from a normal clarinet is that it’s pitched in C, rather than B-flat. If you read from a standard clarinet tutor or sheet music, you’ll sound two semitones higher, than expected by the rest of the band. But if you play tunes notated for piano, flute, violin, guitar or voice, you’ll be right there with them. Solo, it doesn’t matter. Learning at home during lockdown, this posed no problem. ‘A tune a day for clarinet’ works just as well in C as in B-flat.As a beginner, this felt easy to get started with. Keys and levers are comfortably spaced, operate smoothly, and don’t leak. One of them (E-flat) returns a little slowly but is wearing in. As with any musical instrument, don’t be over-ambitious, practise regularly, build basic skills, and expand your range bit by bit. Mouth shape (embouchure) and breath control (from the diaphragm, not the throat!) are fundamental.
