Updated Review: MC Hammer was wrong, you can touch this.
I had been researching faucets for a few months and finally settled on the Delta Essa due to style, reviews, and value. The purchase on Amazon was less expensive than the big-box home improvement stores and with next day delivery so I ordered at 8:00 PM and Amazon delivered at 1:00 PM the next day. I also give credit to Amazon Warehouse deals for offering a Used-Like New faucet in perfect condition, just opened box, that saved $30. I have installed several faucets before, but in no way consider myself an expert. I have basic homeowner repair/installation skills and watch an instructional video before every project. That being said, I found the installation of this faucet straightforward with only two tools needed. A Phillips screwdriver was needed to tighten two screws and an adjustable wrench was needed to tighten the water supply lines. The kit came with a plastic tool to tighten the nut under the sink and everything else just connected by hand. It even came with 6 AA batteries for the touch sensor. Installation took me approximately 45 minutes, but could have been completed quicker if the underside of the sink wasn’t so difficult to access with a disposal in the way. Instructions with diagrams were generally easy to follow. The operation of the faucet is smooth with good flow. This isn’t one of those faucets with a wimpy water flow and it can be easily changed from a straight stream to a shower pattern with one flick of the switch. At first, the touch sensor operation didn’t seem to recognize the touch except on the handle. After a few minutes of just playing with it, the touch operation works flawlessly and recognizes every touch. You just need to keep the faucet in the ‘on’ position for the touch operation to work. Note that it won’t turn on/off by holding the faucet and only works by a touch/tap anywhere on the handle or faucet itself. The hot/cold light indicator is also a nice feature. I used to think the touch faucets were a silly gimmick that didn’t have any practical purpose. After using it for myself, I have found they are very convenient and prevent having to grab the handle with dirty hands and also prevents water from getting on the back splash area because you can tap off with wet hands. I found it convenient to turn on with a touch of the forearm when my hands were dirty after handling raw chicken. This is a five star product in style, functionality and value. You can purchase an optional adapter for the touch sensor so batteries don’t have to be replaced later, which Delta estimated would last two years. That is the only upgrade that I will be doing with the faucet. Overall I am very pleased with the product. Update 05/10/2020: This faucet has been installed for 5 months and 16 days and the batteries were replaced today. The indicator light started to flash when the faucet was turned on/off, giving the message that it was time to change the six AA batteries. We use the faucet often and the frequency of battery replacement probably also depends on the battery quality. I’d say six months give or take will be average for battery replacement. The two year battery life estimate from Delta seems to be a gross over exaggeration. We continue to be pleased with the overall performance of this faucet and maintain the five star review.

More convenient and intuitive than expected. Update 1.5 years later.
I bought this model because it was the most affordable Touch2O model I could find at the time, despite being quite stylish. The most difficult part of this upgrade was removing my old faucet. The install instructions were clear, everything worked exactly as intended right out of the box and seems to be of good quality. My sink has 3 holes, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that this model included a matching cover plate. I was initially worried that the touch feature might be unintuitive or gimmicky, but it's quite the opposite. Turning on/off a faucet is something most of us do many many times a day and this genuinely improves the task. The faucet and handle also remain cleaner since you rarely need to touch them with your hands. As for my fears of accidently turning it on or off, they seem to be mostly without merit. The touch/hold feature solves most of the potential issues and in the unlikely event you do accidentally switch it on/off it can easily be tapped again. I could imagine a curious cat activating it with their nose though (It auto-shuts off after a few minutes). My only cons are that the downward facing veggie sprayer in a rigid tube is definitely inferior to my old, stand alone sprayer in terms of ease of use and mobility, and that the mix handle is quite short which makes precise adjustments to pressure and temperature more difficult compared to the large controls on my old faucet - however these complaints are true for really any faucet of this style. The latter issue is mostly alleviated by the touch sensor, as I rarely need to adjust the knob anyway. Update: I've had this faucet for about a year and a half. The low battery light finally came on for the first time. Your mileage will vary by use - but this was impressive to me. All the old batteries measured 1.17-1.19 V when removed and tested. Some more notes after living with this for a long time. Rarely, when I would attempt to turn it on, the light would turn on but the faucet wouldn't run. I have very hard water, so maybe it has something to do with that, or maybe because the batteries were reaching the end of their life. Simply turning it off and on again always worked. Hopefully the fresh batteries resolve it. Not gonna knock off a star for that yet. The biggest con I can think of is that there isn't really an effective way I can think of to trickle this faucet if you are worried about pipes freezing. It hasn't been a problem for me so far, but this is something to consider for some people in very cold climates. The final note is that you get really used to this thing. When I go to other people's houses I tend to tap on their faucets in a moment of confusion as nothing happens.

looks nice and works well, just need to learn to use it- plenty of helpful videos and instructions available online
The faucet arrived on time and looks very nice. My initial feeling for this faucet was one disappointment as I expected it to work well out of the box- but learnt that I have to learn to use it. Initially after my plumber installed it, it turned on and off repeatedly. After a helpful interaction with Delta heals line and exchange of photographs, I got explicit instructions on how to arrange the wires! Rearranging the wires and preventing them from touching each other helped. I had also bought the power adaptor for the faucet, and the plumber had connected the both the batteries and the power adaptor. When I removed the batteries the touch function on the faucet improved dramatically, and it started working like the manufacturer said it would. However the faucet continued to drip after touch off! After a number of helpful videos and reading a lot of instructions, I learnt that the issue was with the "solenoid" . Disconnecting the solenoid for an hour and using the faucet as a conventional faucet before reconnecting the power adaptor solved the problem. Now the faucet works like they said it would, I am happy with it! The best feature apart from the looks and the touch feature are the lights that come on to show how hot the water is! Now the faucet is about 5 days old and hope it continues to work well. Caution- while using make sure water does not drip on to the bottom of the faucet- can cause the faucet to turn on and off! On the whole it is a nice faucet. The touch function is nice and hope it is functional in the long run. I have changed my rating to give it 5 stars! Very happy with it!

Easy Install and Good Value with just one annoying feature
1. As someone who has never done this before, It took longer to uninstall my old faucet than it did to install this new one, very easy and straightforward install process but the instruction booklet sucks. There are multiple parts and steps crammed into each step which makes it confusing. They should really do something to make the instructions simple and to the point. 2. The faucet looks great and works flawlessly. The lights are a really good feature, I no longer have to guess when the water is hot enough. The touch feature also works great, I'm glad I have the ability to stop wasting water at any moment of my choosing with my new faucet. I like to wash dishes by rinsing them, wiping all of them with a cloth and detergent, and then rinsing all of them clean. I can now do this by simply touching the faucet with a dry part of my arm (or sometimes forehead) instead of having to touch the faucet and getting it wet like I used to. 3. The one annoying feature is that the touch feature also applies to the handle that turns the water on/off and controls temperature. Sometimes I just want a quick swish of water but it also activates the "touch" feature, leaving the light of the unit on. So even when I turn off the faucet off, I have to touch the faucet once again to turn the light off with it so as not to drain the battery. I think the product should have somehow isolated the on/off control handle so that touching that part doesn't trigger the electronic feature. Update After some use, I discovered one annoying feature: the faucet will automatically shut off after a certain amount of time. Other than that, I still like this product, I especially like the fact that you can have it exclusively battery powered, not having to worry about dealing with electrical installation.

Great Value and Functionality!
Very satisfied with this kitchen faucet. We opted to order an ‘open box’ version instead of buying brand new. We never do this, but since a new one was not available for 6 weeks, we thought we would try it. It only saved about $10 off the price of a new one, but it came in 2 days. Overall, we are very satisfied with the purchase. All components were there, the finish was still brand new, and it was obvious that it was never installed. We were somewhat skeptical regarding the touch feature after reading some of the negative reviews, but we decided to go with it anyways and we are so happy we did. It is a great feature to have. It’s been over a month and everything is functioning perfectly. They provided 6 Duracell AA batteries to run the touch feature, and when they run out, I plan to use my rechargeables. Installation was fairly easy as well, however made a bit more challenging with my “insinkerator” garbage disposal until installed. Had to work around it, but when done, there were no leaks and faucet works great! It remains to be seen how Durable the touch-system will be, as the batteries control an extra valve assembly attached to the line, but if perhaps the hardness of our water eventually gums it up, it can always be removed and you can use the faucet as you normally would, without the touch feature. The LED temp sensor light is a nice feature, but really not all that necessary. Will come back in future for updates as they happen! But so far so good!

Stylish, Reliable, and Easy to Use – Love This Faucet! Touch Feature Works Perfectly!
I purchased the Delta Essa Matte Black Touch Kitchen Faucet (9113T-BL-DST) about 3 months ago and I couldn’t be happier with it. The touch feature works flawlessly and makes everyday tasks so much easier, especially when your hands are dirty and you can use your elbow or wrist to turn it on. I especially appreciate the auto shut-off function, which gives me peace of mind if I ever forget to turn it off. The water pressure is great and seems in line with other similar advertised GPS from other faucets. Installation was relatively straightforward, and I’ve had no issues at all with performance. While it didn’t come with a soap dispenser, I was able to find a matching one on Amazon at a great price, and together they look fantastic. The sleek matte black finish adds a modern touch to my kitchen, and the pull-down sprayer is both powerful and convenient. Overall, this faucet has been a wonderful upgrade, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish and functional kitchen faucet.

The whole idea of a touch to turn on faucet - seemed like a good idea to me - so I thought ...
Don't buy this faucet ! It is simply an awful product - it doesn't work - and it will drive you crazy! The whole idea of a touch to turn on faucet - seemed like a good idea to me - so I thought I'd try it. I've have good luck with other Delta faucets in the past - so I ordered it - WHAT A MISTAKE that was - this is the craziest product that Delta has every put out. It simply DOES NOT WORK - first you have to leave the selector turned on - or it doesn't work - then the whole 'touch' design is awful - it doesn't turn on if you have wet hands... it actually doesn't turn on about 25% of the time - you keep 'batting' at the faucet - to see if your are going to 'get lucky!!! - very frustrating.... but it get worst.... on occasion - it would not shut off - and the water just kept running (so much for saving water!) !! A goofy little LED light is supposed to show you the temperture of the water. turning from blue to red as the water heads up - what a joke.... Delta clearly doesn't understand how to design electronics - and why should they - they are plumbing people. The quality of this entire touch motor, sensor, and battery compartment is SHODDY (clearly made in China!)... I had to put duct tape all over on the battery pack just to hold it together - the batteries would just keep flying out - then nothing would work - no water !!!!. I called the DELTA Customer Service folks - and they were of NO help - they really didn't know that much about their own product - and they kept telling me that the only reason it didn't work was because it was 'installed wrong' - I'm sorry - it WAS installed per the instructions - oh - here's a good one - the Customer Service folks said that you have to make sure that the wires (and there are a LOTS OF WIRE) don't touch any pipes or each other - or it will malfunction. Hey - no pipes? then why do they make it to install UNDER A SINK - where there are - what PIPES !! This entire product was poorly conceived, poorly designed and poorly constructed. the only good thing - was that I bought it on Amazon and they promptly took it back - to replace it with basically the very same faucet - but WITHOUT the goofy touch2 technology. This thing looks like it was a kids science project (and built about as badly) .- it was a goofy high tech solution looking for a problem to solve - after all how hard is it to turn on a single lever faucet..?? Don't waste your time - or your money - you will just be very disappointed - as I was. Oh yeah - don't buy the touch2 soap dispenser either - it was REALLY WILD - soap squirting all over the place - same problems - didn't shut off - wasted a LOT of soap - and it added to the number of wires - below the sink that aren't supposed to touch each other or any pipes !! Ha Ha Ha - what a joke !

Touch it for on
This is a great faucet. The touch on/off takes a little getting used to but it is a great feature.

Keeping the back of the sink dry
I got this after a previous Delta faucet I liked started to fall apart, rusting on the mag click part of the pull down is an ongoing issue on pretty much all faucets of this type...but at least it lasted 8 years. One thing I've noted is a constant battle to keep the base of the faucet dry, you don't want mold/mildew starting to build up. You really have to keep at it. So to replace my old faucet with one not too dissimilar, I decided to try this very affordable Essa Touch model, the price was good and reviews seem largely positive. Install was much easier than my 8 year old faucet, really appreciated that someone like me who isn't particularly handy, was able to follow the instructions even including the procedure to flush the line, and get my new faucet installed. It's very cool that the LED shows purple when it's warm, red when it's too hot for the kids to touch and blue when it's cold water. You don't need to leave the handle in the ON position and think you'll have one volume and temp for everything, however it does help you keep the back area dry. You typically turn the faucet on with dry hands, use your right hand and set the temp and volume you want, then do all your stuff. At the end you can use a light touch on the side of the faucet just above the pull down sprayer body (as the sprayer itself isn't touch), OR you can even use a light touch with your elbow to turn it off. What's more important is, you're never touching the handle to turn it off with wet hands. This keeps the base of the faucet perfectly dry, every time. I'm wishing I had made this jump years ago! Faucet seems well built, was easy to install, spray vs stream works well and touch and LED are so convenient. 5 stars at this on sale price of just over 400 bucks.

US connections. Doesn’t work to it’s full potential in the uk.
The reviews on this product are not from the uk. Bought it and plumber eventually got it working however it will only give you warm water. Needs a different connection. It’s now in the bin. Waste of time.
