DaiwaSpinning Reel 14 Underspin 80

I was under the impression the this reel had an oscillating spool when I purchased it. It does not. Other than cosmetics there is no difference between it and the Daiwa Underspin-XD Series which I also own and which is readily available in the US for a third the price. The reel does appear to be well made and operates smoothly but it's very hard to justify the price unless you just have to have a red reel.

I bought this and was really excited as I had used underspin reels in the past and avereally enjoyed them. This one locks up randomly during casting about 30% of the time.There is no rhyme or reason and in reading the negative reviews I see I am not alone.After 10 minutes of using this reel, I wanted to smash it into a thousand pieces. The only reason I did not was so I can return it to buy another brand.

This thing never even hit the water! Broken out of the box! Trigger release and retrieve don’t work! Missing a spring in the reel! I got ripped off! By the time I got to take this on a fishing trip the warranty is up and I’m out $70! Thanks for nothing!!!

I had a ZEBCO reel just like it that I loved but because of the poor quality it finally gave out. This unit is just like it only a little bigger and the quality is there. I like this a lot.

I thought that this reel would be somewhat larger since it is recommended for 14 lb. test line. Seems to be a quality reel. I however would recommend it for 8 lb. line.

Nice reel. This is just a red version of the Underspin XD 80. That would be the only novelty for this reel. Otherwise it is made in China and costs more than the XD 80. Just remember the reel is not made in Japan. But if you are looking for the red version of the XD 80 there are not many places to get it.

I wanted the reel to use for fall fishing, but could not find it anywhere but Amazon.

このリールを購入して、ワームでのカサゴ釣りに2回行きました。残念ながら一匹も釣れませんでしたが。（この投稿現在）確かに使い方が簡単です。スピニングはルアーを投げる前に、ベールを起こす必要がありますが、このリールは片手だけで投げられます。クラッチがOFF状態でハンドルを回すと、ロスが無く、すぐにクラッチはONになります。　瞬間ストッパーは搭載されていませんが、逆転ガタは小さいので、あまり気になりません。　付属の説明書には、詳しい内部構造のことは書かれていないので、説明を書きます。　写真はすべてフロントカバーを外した状態です。ローターに付いている細いピンが、スピニングでのラインローラーになります。　　人差し指でレバー（キャスティングトリガー）を引くと、ピンが収納され、ローターが前に少し出ます。ローターの前部がフロントカバーの内側にラインを挟んでくっつきます。これにより、ライン（糸）の出が止まります。　　キャスティング時にレバーを離すと、前に出ていたローターが下がり、ラインがフリーになり、ルアーが飛びます。　　ハンドルを回すとクラッチはONになり、ピンが外に出てラインを引っ掛け、ラインがローターに巻かれます。

＜よくある港・堤防での使用　ライン2号or3号での使用レビュー＞スタイルも懐かしさも相まってとても好きなんですが....　１～２時間使っているとラインロックが激しく発生。最悪なのはギシギシとスプール内部でラインがケンカしてるような感じで巻き上げすらできなくなります（２号でも3号でも発生）。キャスト時には途中でガツン！とロックがかかってちょっとバックしながら激しく水面に落下します。いろいろ原因を考えたのですが、たぶん超激しい糸よれ、ハンドルの回転によるロック復帰かなと。初心者向けにいい、とかよく聞きますがウソです。子供がこれでしばらく投げてギシギシしだしたら、釣り嫌いになるかもしれません。スピニングリールの構造的な完成度の高さを逆に痛感できるリールです。唯一救いの道は堤防からのサビキや直下落とし込み、穴釣りなど、投げない縦数ｍの上下くらいならまだ大丈夫かなと感じますがキャストをすると全然ダメな投げれないリールってのはフラストレーション溜まります。ひとつ弁護（なんだかんだ言って好きなので）、飛ばないとかいうわけではなく、ギシギシいいだすまでは同じ重さと同じロッド、同じ人間が投げてスピニングとそう変わらないくらいの飛距離が出ていたのでクローズドは飛ばないっていうのは間違いです。きっと使ったこと無い人が古い解説本とか読んで「知ったか」で言ってるなこりゃ、と思います。飛ぶんだけど数時間後にギシギシ言い出す、っていう面倒くさくややこしいリールです。クローズドフェイスってこういうもんだよ、という前提で必ず迫りくるライントラブルを喜び楽しみながら乗り越え自己解決し、それにすら陶酔できる変態気味な人しかこのリールは愛せないだろうなぁ...と、ほんとにそう感じました。悪い意味で書いてるのではありません、普通の人が普通に使うときっと「なんじゃごるぁ！！」と捨てたくなるリールです。気難しいポニーを手懐けるような感じでしょうか。手なづけてももともとサラブレッドではないので速く走ることも、農耕馬みたいにグイグイと働くこともできません。でも自在に使えればそれはそれで愛着がわくのでしょう。その前にほとんどの人が「やべー地雷！」とオクやメルカリに投げ出していると思います。オシュレート有りやドラグの強化された1万以上のものをどこかが出さない限り（きっと永遠に出ませんけど）やはり、変わったものが好きな奇特な人向けだと思います。そういう意味では昔からのイメージは当たっていますね。是非どうぞｗ。
