If you like Stranglers, 5 stars. If you don't, not even one star :-)
I lived in London in the '80s and had a couple of friends in rehab plus I started going from pop/classical into rock and metal music. For me this album represents a decade of history, it's time traveling.Only recommendable for someone who knows the stranglers or wishes to get a far-fetched british pop band that could have revolutionised the industry but didn't quite make it. It's full of sounds that give an atmosphere of sadness, nostalgia, introspection, things that just didn't work out and lost opportunities. But not in an emo-kind of way but rather using a wise approach, as if you could talk to your great-grandfather about our regrets.

Love the extra songs in this album.
Feline was my first album from Strangles and I fell in love with the style and mood. I bought the original CD and have enjoyed since then. Lately my daughter found out about The Stranglers and she decided to keep this CD for herself. In searching fro a replacement I came across this CD and I ended up with a few extra bonus tracks. The Live version of Midnight Summer's Dream and the European Female is my favorite bonus track. The rest as a good "filler" and do not add much to the original album but I am still glad I have them.

Excellent Remaster by Culture Factory
This Culture Factory Remaster has the song "Golden Brown" on it and is in a mini lp style paper sleeve reminiscent of the Japanese mini lp sleeve Cd's. I am glad to say that the remastered sound on this entire CD is a success. The sound is clear, crisp, full of detail and the bass is robust, yet not overdone. It's exciting to listen to this disk as it reveals previously unheard musical details and it's obvious the band was/is supremely talented. This is a winner.

A more acoustic sound
When this was released in the UK a lot of original Stranglers' fans deserted the group. They had lost the power and aggressivity of their earlier offerings and were shortly to become a very bland outfit indeed. A bit like when U2 started to phase out the Edge's guitar, the Stranglers were never sure where to take their sound once they toned down JJ Burnel's booming bass and replaced their early keyboard sound with a more synthesised one. This album though does still offer something. It is the first to include acoustic guitars which many former punk bands were turning to at the time and the sound is not a disaster by any means. The bass-lines have become less booming and more lilting but they still form an interesting back-drop. The ideas had not yet entirely dried up for the song writing. If you want a punk album, you had better go for one of their superb earlier efforts. If you accept the need for groups to evolve and fancy something more mellow this album will be of interest to you, although it will not be the album they are remembered for.

Not easy to find...
Going through a phase of finding LPs from my school days, so was very enthusiastic to find this one. Always reminds me of summers on campus, laying outside with an ice cream...

Tolle Musik ...
