Author had an attack of liberal PC derangement syndrome
Had to quit this book. It’s the last in the series and...unfortunately...the author went full politics. In all the past books the author usually avoided any PC politics references. Not necessarily blaming current, real world ideologies. This final book was quite different. Right from the start the author does an about face on past books and blames nationalists for putting money/economy over climate change problems...which is the current liberal claim based on misinformation. The book’s President is obviously supposed to be a Tump-like character...using mannerisms and language that is perpetuated by constant media, socialist and liberal exaggerations. Since I see no end to this lunacy I’m shoving this last book aside. It’s too bad...author must be suffering from liberal PC derangement syndrome. This is not my thing.

Good close to the series but a bit too much liberal agenda
Overall, I like how Ian Douglas writes his books. A lot of detail about the alien species and their cultures. However, I've noticed quite a bit in the series that he refers back to events in the past but mostly he only references things in either the 20th or 21st centuries. If this series is supposed to take place a few hundred or so years in the future, wouldn't there have been other notable events and people in those years? Also, he referenced 'fake news', climate change and the President seemed to be an overt caricature of President Donald Trump.

A fitting ending to the series.
"Sandy" Gray was up to his old tricks once again saving not only the star carrier America but Earth as well. Having read the other 8 books of the series I REALLY REALLY appreciate that Mr Douglas did not bring up Admiral Gray's early life to any extent. (I was at the point of, "enough already" ) Warning, the President of USNA in this book reminded me very much of... Now, the story is not perfect, unless I missed it there is an unasked question an thus a situation that could open an offshoot series.

EVOLVING INTO HIGHER STATES OF BEING
THE UNIVERSE IS POPULATED BY ALL KINDS AND MANNER OF BEINGS UNIMAGINABLE. IT IS BOTH WONDROUS AND TERRIFYING. THE STARBORN WAS A GOOD BEGINNING AT GIVING HUMANKIND AN IDEA OF EVENTUALLY TRANSFORMING OR EVOLVING THE HUMAN RACE INTO A HIGHER STATE OF BEING.HOWEVER, I WAS A BIT DISAPPOINTED WHEN THE IDEA OF A COMPUTER ANIMATED REALITY. THAT SOUNDS MORE LIKE TO ME LIKE A GOOD TEMPORARY IDEA. I WAS HOPING FOR AN EVOLVING HUMANITY INTO MAYBE HIGHER DIMENSIONS, OR SOME TYPE OF GREATER INFINITY WHERE WE GET GLIMPSES OF PRIOR BEINGS EVOLVING INTO AN EVEN HIGHER SOMETHINGS

Great read.
Great end of a great series. A fitting end. It shows what could have been for some great three book stories that should have gone on but for the truth that the writer just lost interest in the story and characters. To the author, a deep and heart felt Thank You. You took me where I needed to go. Thank You. I accept that all trails have an end, even in space. But this one felt good and proper. Good job.

Hmmm
I’m not sure what to think of this. I’ve followed this series for years. Always heart pounding and thought provoking. This one was slow, rehashed and a little depressing. I’m looking forward to book two of Solar Warden. Sorry, this missed the mark for me.

Best imagination yet
The author has taken us to new worlds and ideas not seen before. Very intriguing weaving mankind’s weaknesses and strengths together to make the story plausible. Very deep thought put into this book which makes one look in the mirror in order to see where you stand within our society. Love thought provoking works and this book did it. Keep up the great work!

A fitting conclusion to the series
A very enjoyable finale. Well thought out, with plenty of action and intrigue. The concept of the singularity was well thought through. The ending was fast but didn't feel rushed. One of the best in the series for sure. I'm sad to see it end but glad it did it with great aplomb.

Well done! Thanks for pulling things all together....
I have read the series from the beginning. The middle episodes were a bit weak and overfocused on the political agenda within the storyline, IMO. In fact, I was so disheartened that I almost gave up on it - but I didn’t. And I’m glad I persevered. Douglas has pulled this “final chapter” (final as far as I can tell?) back into focus...but Sandy Gray may still have some adventures left to him...who knows?A good mix of action and character development with familiar players, and some new twists. With enough connection to the overall series plot line to make it relevant and with a connected overall Outcome. Well done.So long. And thanks for all the fish...

Humanity Ascends
In this entry humanity ascends to the singularity. Not everyone is comfortable about this and several groups have plans to stop it and deal with the ai's. Sigh, yes the US president is one such individual. Sigh, yes he conspires with the Russians to destroy one of his own star carriers. This is a problem with several authors lately who feel the need to bring caricatures of current politicians in to their works.
