Soap Works Coal Tar Bar Soap (Black) (110g/bar) 2 bars

We have been using this soap for years, it works very well and helps with all kinds of minor impurities on the skin.

This was purchased for my mum who was dealing with a severe outbreak of psoriasis from head to toe, that left her hands chapped, cracking, and uncomfortable. Item is as pictured and described. I checked various other coal tar products, and the highest percent coal tar I could find was 5% (in a shampoo), so I was thrilled when I found this 100% Coal Tar Soap! I gave the soap to my mum to try and she LOVES it! Considering she is using Coal Tar ointment (2% coal tar), Coal Tar Lotion (2% Coal Tar) and Coal Tar Shampoo (5% Coal Tar), she even prefers to use this Coal Tar Soap to wash her hair! Overall, she really likes it (I even bought/gave her some White Zinc soap at the same time), and she prefers this soap.There is definitely a SMELL that comes with this soap (to me it smells like grease, like a car mechanic right after working on a car when he is covered in auto grease *shrugs*, it’s not foul or awful, just a bit strong), BUT, the smell does fade rather quickly once out of the shower.Because this seems to be he highest percentage of Coal Tar a available, if using Coal Tar, I would definitely give it a try. However, remember that coal tar is DRYING, so it can cause scalp dryness (dandruff) if used as a hard soap shampoo, and used on One’s scalp. My mum says it leaves her hair very soft. I would recommend also using a moisturizer on your scalp if using as a shampoo, for example, using 100% Coconut Oil and leaving in your hair, massaging it into your scalp after showering, but before drying or styling. For body, I would recommend Coconut Oil or Coca Butter (not the creme stuff), but the 100% like a stick or it comes in a bar, simply warm it with body heat or however to liquify it if that is your preference.There is not much else I can say about the soap. While it is NOT an instant remedy, I do believe that it helps with the itching and uncomfortability of psoriasis.COST = Very reasonable for a two bar pack, and also when compared to similar Coal Tar soaps out there, AND even other soap products offered online in general.SHIPPING: Was good to great and arrived in a timely fashion, I have no complaints.This came as a two bar package.I definitely RECOMMEND the SELLER!I definitely RECOMMEND Buy & Trying this soap!!Good Luck to You all and I hope the above has helped you. Has helped a bit with psoriasis. (or so we think it was a major contributor, in combination with other treatment and ointments and just good old plain exposure to sunlight)The fragrance and color when lathering up in the shower may not be for everyone, however I personally like it . Fortunately any black residue left in the shower or on the walls is easily rinsed away and keeps me honest when it comes to taking care of my share of the mess in the bathroom. **encourages me to rinse down & clean the shower a bit every time I hop in!My Daughter does not like the smell (of any coal tar based product) says "it makes her smell like a man" but she washes that away with her soap of choice after using on her psoriasis and she is seeing fairly good results as well. The coal tar smell is less pronounced than your standard MG217 Ointments, shampoo or soapThe bars go a little faster than your standard bar of soap when used with a "scrubby puff thingy" or loofah/sponge, though I think that applies across the board with any soap when used in similar combination.On the positive effects I have noticed softer and smoother skin in general, plus bottoms of feet, hands, etc and thinning/fading of the psoriasis patches.Will 5 star if the Psoriasis goes away completely!!

After using it for a while I noticed that it helps control my dandruff. Scalp and beard.

Soap came in a zip-lock bag with product barcode stickers on it. No, the stickers were not on the bag, they were on the bars of soap. Who does that? The soap itself is ok, although the bars weren’t as big and as fragrant as I prefer. But I do like the chamfered edges as opposed to the sharp square cut edges of other soaps. Bottle line is there are plenty of other charcoal soaps out there without stickers on them.

Soap Works Coal Tar Soap is excellent and helps skin issues . The bar lasts and does not deteriorate. Good lather, no excess smell and leaves skin feeling good.

All right- used this for that last 6 weeks (about half way through the first bar). Things to note:1. I have never seen any residue on my towels (I use white towels, and was worried by other comments). There is a little black residue in the soap dish in my shower, which easily rinses away. My guess is that rinsing decently (not excessive- my shower head is only 1.25 gpm) is sufficient, and probably be careful about little bits of the bar when it gets small2. It lathers very well on my beard and hair3. It has very little scent, unlike the liquid coal tar shampoo I have used in the past4. It seems to clean and control dandruff as well as this liquid coal tar shampoo, at least as far as I can tell5. Showering most days, it looks like a bar will last me about 3 mos. Seems pretty reasonable for the price6. Almost no plastic- yay! (Sadly, the bars do come in a plastic baggie, I assume to prevent moisture damage during shipping)
