Has wit and insights
Compared to other guidebooks, this book sits between lot-of-photos DK eyewitness and lots-of-info/text Lonely Planet/Rough guide. It gives concise overviews and great insights like Japanese-style baseball games, famous hikes, soba eating contests and how Japanese view of ghosts.

Planning a trip to Japan?
Got this book for our teenage grandson and he was wow'ed!! Loved the map. This is going to be a great resource for him since we plan to visit his aunt and uncle living in Ikoma. (When Covid permits!)

Don’t buy.
Please don’t buy it. The sheets are smaller and of much poor quality than the standard previous versions.
