Time consuming but worth it!
I am handy lady (granted Iâm not used to working at such a small scale) and this took me probably 3 hours. And after all that work I am super happy with the end result! As others said, the finish on the plastic is different than the Nintendo ones. This has more of a rubber coated/silicone feel to it (without being sticky.) So I quite liked it. I did have to spend some extra $ to get the right tools since even my smallest screwdrivers werenât right. Make sure to get some with a magnetic tip since the screws are small. I also broke a piece on my joy con :( I managed to find a replacement part on Ebay for $6, which fit and works but needs to be pressed a lot harder than the original (part is inferior quality I would say.) So be careful!! The kit also doesnât come with any kind of instructions. I had to watch a youtube video to do the assembly.

TAKE YOUR TIME, and it's awesome!
I was obviously cautious about doing this install, and everyone on the internet making videos said it was WAY too hard to do and not worth the trouble, but I'm here to say that they are WRONG. Yes, the install is hard, requires patience, concentration, and attention to placement of small parts, but it's not rocket science. I watched lots of videos on the procedure before I did it, and I HIGHLY recommend you do the same. after watching the same few videos several time, I felt like I knew the procedure by heart, but I still watched the video as I did it, which still helped a LOT, and should be done if its your first time doing a modification. But I did run into problems, and I lost a few pieces when I wasn't taking it slow. On my second joy con, I didn't check if it worked before closing the shell, and when I attached it to my switch, it didn't connect, and I had stripped the Y shaped screws on the back, so I couldn't open it. I ended up sanding down the Y shaped screw and instantly finding the problem, a loose ribbon cable which I snapped into place and instantly saw was connected to the console. I then replaced the Y taped screws on both shells with the included Philips head screws, which id recommend you do as well, they strip very easily. And all of this would have been avoided if I had taken my time and done it carefully, so please do that.I hope this will help others on their own projects and I hope you will all have awesome joy cons after this!

So Cute!!
Gosh where do I start?? Iâm in love with these shells and the way my joycons turned out with them. Iâll break down my review so itâs easier to read.Color/Feel:For the pink, the color is more of a bubblegum pink with a bit of a soft touch feel. I wasnât sure how I would feel about the soft touch but I actually love it! These shells do weigh noticeably less than the original shells, and your joycons and even your switch when playing handheld will feel lighter because of that. I have the OLED and did notice a difference in weight, but nothing that bothers me.I havenât had any issues with discoloration on these shells, and they fit together great, (albeit not as perfectly flush in some areas as the eXtremeRate brand shells), but nothing noticeable once all the outside screws are back in!Another bonus is this particular shade of pink. I couldnât find it anywhere else on Amazon with good reviews, and this shade is perfect!Whatâs Included and my Mod Details:These shells come with some extra screws and the colored ABXY and directional buttons, but no other buttons. I wanted a full mod so I purchased the clear red replacement buttons from eXtremeRate here on amazon, and used those for my shoulder, plus/minus, and home/capture buttons to complete the look. I also swapped out my black joysticks with the lighter colored grey ones from my Switch Light because I thought they looked better. The joystick caps I used are from GeekShare here on Amazon!Ease of Shell Swap:I have pretty decent experience with swapping out joycon shells so this was pretty easy for me! I learned from watching a youtube video by âCptnAlexâ on how to swap the shells easily in under 10 minutes. I really recommend this video if you want to learn! After following along with it slowly a couple of times I can now do these shell swaps completely from memory.I also recommend getting a good tool kit for doing this that includes the tri-wing screwdriver for the outside screws, the phillips for the inside screws, and maybe a pry tool and a pair of tweezers to make things easier. You definitely donât want to strip any screws. I got one for around $10 on here and it works great!Overall I love these shells for the color and feel and I love the unique look they gave my joycons. The quality is also great and thatâs a huge plus.I hope my review helps!!

Difficult! But worth it...? Is it tho?
Update: 05/30/20They sent me a new shell and I have to return the old one. However, the new one still cracked in the same spot. -__- A smaller crack but still a crackUPDATE: 05/17/20UGH what the heck! Not even one day after I installed the shell, it CRACKED! Itâs not like I dropped it, I was wiping it down when I noticed that there were cracks on the right joycon near the rumble mechanics and home button!! This is so disappointing!!! Reduced 4 stars down to 2Okay Iâm gonna start off by saying watch a YouTube video on how to to do this before you start so you get an idea of the difficulty youâre gonna face. One thing I didnât realize was that that famicom buttons on the right were in the wrong order (correct placement going clockwise is blue, red, yellow and then green) left controller is correct but right is not. The finish is glossy not matte. I couldnât tell by the pictures but thatâs not a huge dealbreaker for me. ALSO, nothing is threaded! I found myself forcing the screws to work and I ended up using the original screws that came with console. I recommend using double sided tape for the parts that are stuck to the console to reduce any rattling. Tools needed are a triwing screwdriver, a philips head, and maybe some tiny pliers. I recommend watching a YouTuber by the name of Wonk, he has a step by step video for the joy-cons, which is the hardest part.
