Because the price was so low, I was concerned that this might be one of those junky electronic components that lasts a few months and then breaks down. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted when this arrived. It is sturdy and can take getting knocked up a few times if I take it with me on my travels. When I plugged it into my new laptop, Windows went and installed the drivers. The drive is fast for both CDs and DVDs. Great price, great product. Definitely five stars and strongly recommend!

My new pc lacked a dvd drive so I bought this and it has worked well. My only problem was it did not recognize an install cd for Flight Simulator X but that is probably because the game is out of date. It has worked well in writing and reading DVD-Rs. It also played music CDs. I am happy with the purchase.

The quality of the total experience of viewing a movie or video on a DVD involves the DVD, the DVD player (internal or external), and the laptop. When the experience is less than optimal, it's hard to know where the issue lies. Yesterday, I watched a movie. Every few minutes, the video would freeze but the audio would continue. Then the video would start up again and run perhaps a minute and stop again. Very annoying!.I suspect the issue is with my laptop.

Despite some bad reviews, I decided to take a gamble on this DVD/CD-R/W device. It powers on, accepts discs, ejects discs. However, I could not get it to read either of the CD that I inserted into it. I did not test any DVDs in this drive, as I purchased it specifically for reading CDs. I will be sending this drive back to Amazon in the coming weeks.

I bought this for a friend. It was easy to use and were able to accomplish what we had wanted to do. It is exactly what she needed.

Hated the late delivery because driver was too lazy to deliver says he can't find it. Lol did not follow directions. Not good delivery service on this delivered 1 or 2 days late

I read a number of positive reviews, and so decided to purchase despite a few less than favorable ones. I have a Dell with a Windows 10 OS and it rarely works to play DVDs, and has not worked with any of the CDs I've tried to date. The cord is rather short, which can be inconvenient, but not necessarily a deal-breaker for me. Unfortunately, I did not have cause to use it until it was past the return date. I would not advise purchasing this item.

i had to replace my laptop durring this covid stuff, the one I slected did not come with a CD player, this one suits my needs very well

It works well with my older versions of windows. Did the job I wanted it to do but the usb cord is way to short, plugged into the port it doesn’t fit well beside the laptop.

While item is the right price for occasional use, the DVD/CD "door" is difficult to use reliably. Within a few uses it jammed on me and required a pin to eject. Most of the time the door is difficult to close ... it wants to bounce out. Don't think it is faulty, just poor design???
