I guess the color plus their motion in the winds attracts the flies and other insects. I hang them in the barn area to help keep down the biting fly population, and they ctch other insects as well. I've used them every year for many many years (like 20?)

Tractor supply quit carrying these. I love them for flies, moths, and fruit flies/gnats. I put them in my bathrooms and kitchen - anywhere the pests are. They fill up according to the amount of pests you have.

Verdict pending; really hoping it works, as the smelly traps are just horrible to use. Fingers crossed.

They catch a lot of flies and they do not stink like bait traps do.

Works best on smaller flies and gnats. Have caught a few big ones. When you pull the bugs off it is VERY sticky.

Last summer we had a ridiculous amount of flies around our house. I bought these in desperation, hoping it would catch more than just a simple fly strip. I should have stuck with the cheapo fly strips. The flies would land on this and then fly away. We had it out for days and only had 5 flies on it. However the cheap fly strips we had were covered. (eeew).

We had a fruit fly infestation and putting one of these on the counter near the source killed them all off in just over a week. It had no noticeable odor and we have no complaints. If fruit flies are ever a problem again I will buy another one of these.
