Q: Will this cap work with the goldenrod (596-5) fuel tank filter? i know it claims it works with 596 and 596-3/4. but the filters i use say 596-5.

The 596 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BVX8ZW) and 596-3/4 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LKWZCFU) are the complete fuel tank filter units containing both the top caps and the canisters.

No it is for 1” filter thread and 3/4” input and output threads.

The thread on the bottom of these top caps that screws into the top of the canister filter itself is 1"-12 in diameter.
