Infinity 8 Inch Foam Speaker Repair Kit FSK-8 (Pair)

Worked as intended and not difficult to install
I have 30 year old Infinity speakers that were in need of re-foaming and, though I wanted to purchase replacements instead, a whole new matched set of Klipsch speakers was a bit more than I want to pay at the moment so I decided to give this re-foam kit a try.The most difficult part of the operation was removing the old foam, cleaning the existing surfaces of all the old debris and preparing them for the new foam. Once they were clean, applying the adhesive and attaching the new foam surrounds was a piece of cake. I did take my time since this was the first set I've ever re-foamed (I was able to buy new elements from Harmon Kardon for another pair of speakers about 20 years ago but that was not possible now) and wanted to do it right the first time.Simply followed the directions and the results were better than I expected. The speakers sound one hundred percent as they should. I'm sure you audiophiles out there will argue about how good or bad Infinity speakers might be but, to me, they have always sounded fine and are extremely efficient which works well for a home theater - nice and loud. The re-foam did not change the speaker's sound at all. So the kit is a definite success. Hopefully these last another 30 years.

Good quality foam and glue, easy enough to install
It was between a foam job and a new set of speakers. Everything I read said my Infinities were worth fixing. So then it was down to take it to a shop or do it myself. I was willing to pay labor, but everyone wanted to keep my speakers for like two weeks. Another kit I saw used white glue instead of the rubber cement type of stuff this one comes with. It recommended waiting 24 hours between multiple steps. With this one, you only have to wait an hour for the glue to dry between steps. I had both speakers (two cones in each speaker) completely refoamed and working the same day. The instructions are good. The only thing I would change is the part where they say you can either put the glue on the foam or on the speaker cone itself. I tried both. Both work, but I got got glue all over the place trying to put it on the cone. I got a much cleaner joint putting glue on the foam. Also, work quickly when centering, because the cement sets up pretty quickly. You don't have to rush, but be aware you are on a clock once the glue is spread. Ripping out all the old foam and glue was messy and tedious, but just about any do-it-yourselfer should be able to get through this job. In the end, my speakers sound as good as they ever did for about half what I'd have payed someone else, way less than an equivalent set of replacements, and in one day instead of two weeks. I did this repair about a month ago. I push my speakers hard and the repairs are holding solid.

The annoying buzzing went away!
They were not a perfect replacement and there was a gap from the foam to speaker, so I had to use some pressure to connect them after applying the glue to the foam. Once they stayed connected all the way around the speaker I turned the whole cabinet face down on a carpet to let the glue dry while that position helped to keep them from separating. As far as my hearing can tell the quality returned about to as before the original foam deteriorated and caused annoying buzzing sounds, especially at certain low frequencies.

Speakers sound good as new!
i had never done a speaker repair like this before; the instructions were very good, the only thing I would caution against is using too much glue! The glue (DUCO cement) is plenty capable and you don't need much! I did two speakers and am happy that they are back in service.

Solved the issue and did it easily
This is one of those products that should get 5 stars if it solves the issue, which it did. BUT... it was very easy to do as well. As a matter of fact as I was setting the outside of the foam ring the instructions came back to my mind and I remembered to center the cone so it wouldn't scrape in the driver! So the directions are great, the kit is great and the materials are great (I used a toothpick to help poke spots of the ring in the glue and get it to seat correctly).. Couple of bucks for the kit saved a LOT of cash in not having to buy a new sub.I wish more products had repair kits like this.

Great low-cost alternative to replacing subwoofers
I ordered this for my Infinity RS-8s with the built in subwoofers. The instructions (plus video) were clear and easy to follow. Subwoofers working great again!
