Great book to get you up & running with Apple's OS X
Very well written. Would liked to have seen a few more lower-level details on how to use the operating system, like if you need to do something from a command line, like you do in Windows for Interner/Web network connectivity issues, etc. ... if that can be done. But, it is a great book for teaching a person unfamiliar with Apple's OS, the basics, to get them up & running.I highly recommend it.

Waste of time & money
Almost $20 and it's barely up from those dummies books (which I've never purchased).I don't consider myself a PC Pro by any stretch of the imagination, but my very first pc type book was "Windows Internet Security: Protecting your critical data". It was my PC Bible. This book was a waste of time...pretty to look at, but worthless to me.I've given up trying to figure out this iMac crap. I'm going to reformat the beast with Linux.

Old Granny Learning OS X El Capitan
It's a wonderful reference book for people like me that switch from Windows and need help from time to time. I'm sure I will need it for new problems that crop up in the future. My iMac is almost a year old but I still have lots of questions. This book has very simple illustrated steps that show how to manage almost any situation that arises with this software.

I Love Visually Books
This a great book for new iMac users, I just installed El Capitan late week. The book helped me with some of the new programs. I bought the book, because I like to High Light the pages in the book. I was also thinking about ordering the iMac book as a backup.

Good Book
Good easy to locate and understand items in this book. Not perfect but none of these computer books are. I'm just an average home user and found this book to be very helpful.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
Excellent book and it works for me because of the high visual content.Well written and because of the high quality photos there is minimal explanation and no infuriating 'funny' comments along the way.It is so easy to use that I don't hesitate to turn to it.If I get to a point that I need more detail, then its done its job. Recommended.

this book is as good as it gets
Short of one on one personal instruction, this book is as good as it gets. I am in my seventies and not as familiar with many technical terms used in other publications. I have experience of the 'Dummies' series when I first purchased my Mac. They are full of American Technical Jargon that quite frankly was beyond me. I recently upgraded my Mac from Mountain Lion to El Capitan - a decision that was not taken lightly. I need not have worried. This book clearly explains every move you are ever likely to need while coming to terms with El Capitan. Clear concise illustrations with a narrative that is easy to understand. What more could you ask for.

This book is just brilliant for anybody who has trouble understanding or absorbing written instructions. Just what I needed to change from a Windows to a OS X. My youngest son is also glad I bought it as it save me having to phone him and ask a million and one questions!)

Clear visual instructions, easy to understand. Even my wife understands it, but lets hope she doesn't see this review or she might hit me with it!
