The Gruffalo Song & Other Songs

Our family enjoys Julia Donaldson's stories so I wanted to play the Gruffalo song for my son on the piano. The songs are mostly lovely, with a little bit of filler. The sheet music was my reason for ordering but we also really enjoy the CD (including the un-selfconsciously plummy singing), especially the action songs which are great even for relatively tiny ones (Handy goes down well with my 8 month old).

When I first heard this I didn't like it. I had read reviews so knew what sort of singing to expect. My daughter (aged 2) has a lot of the books by Julia and Axel. She soon picked up the words and loved that she could match them to the books. She makes me listen to it all the time in the car, but I have grown to love also.Would recommend for any fans

The word "AudioBook" in the title confused us a little, as we thought it was the CD/book combined, and one or two of the reviews mention "book" also. But this is just the CD. Anyway...can Julia Donaldson sing? Er...No! Can she play guitar? In a basic fashion. Can she write stories and songs that children love? Absolutely. And that's the main thing. Children don't care about the technical quality, it's all about the fun content. My 3-y-o plays this over and over, loves to sing along and dance to it. Some of the stories and songs also provide good opportunities for extra learning and parents to join in, like "Funny Face" and "Great Big Trolley". This is an excellent CD for 3+ yrs to progress from nursery rhymes.

I loved reading the other reviews before i bought this CD as all of the parents thought she had an awful voice and should stick to writing. But personally I let my 2 1/2 year old be the critic as thats who i bought it for - and he loves it! and i chuckle at the bits where her voice is not so good! probably because I sound the same singing along to it!!!

We love Julia's books and I thought this would be fun for my 3 year old twins. We do enjoy it, it's catchy. There are 9 tracks sung, and then they are repeated as instrumentals.I'd read the reviews about Julia's singing voice and dismissed them, I thought it was good they were sung by a mother how most of us would sing them.... but really her singing is bad to the point of shrill at times. It has put me off buying any other of the CDs she has done, but I'm not sorry we bought this one as it is a cheap price & fast delivery on Amazon.

This CD is fun!!! Julia Donaldson sings her books, which the children love and know by heart, so they sing along. The tunes are easy and fun, they invite you to dance and jump and be silly. My son enjoyed this very much, I used her song when running music workshops at nurseries and now I bought it for my grandson. What more can I say.

STEAR CLEAR OF THIS AUDIO CD, AND DON'T BE TEMPTED BECAUSE OF THE QUALITY OF THE BOOKS. JULIA DONALDSON IS A TERRIFIC WRITER BUT THAT DOES NOT TRANSLATE TO BEING A GREAT SINGER!!! WOEFUL, CRINGEWORTHY, AMATEURISH AND NOT IN THE LEAST BIT QUAINT. WHAT EVER WERE THEY THINKING OF...OH YES THE PROFIT MARGIN AND YOU CAN'T TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!

Just right for a 4 year old. My granddaughter loves it and especially enjoys the action songs, which she has caught on to really quickly.

I bought this song book for one of my grands and of course, I had to flip through it!The usual adorable Gruffalo characters are throughout this song book. I just wish I had time, before I gifted it, to learn and take in the songs. My bad!

The contents of the book are fantastic and more so if you can play the piano or guitar along with the musical notations for the songs. 2 stars as I was delivered a book which was in poor condition. The book delivered is either very old or is a used copy. Page corners are foxed, the spine of the book is torn, there's a tear on the back of the cover page and some pages of the book have a yellowish-brown stain (the stain is not very clear in the pictures).

...to sing along!Habe die CD im Englischunterricht eingesetzt und einen volen Treffer gelandet. Die Lieder sind eingängig und mit der CD auch mit etwas Übung gut singbar. Suchtfaktor vorprogrammiert :-)

Having read the books of the Gruffalo I can now sing along with him. A great way for kids to learn singing in rhyme.
