Fun horror romp with great monster
I had the honor of putting up the first review for an earlier version of the book*. I liked that incarnation, but this one is better. The characters are nicely fleshed out & realistic...no one is cardboard or stereotype. The protagonist's kids are real children without being really annoying...a line that is hard to keep on, IMO. I especially like the priest. Kelly puts a lot of references to a whole lot of different subjects, from horror movies (obviously) to SF to Maritime slang & sports & Cincinnati 1970's stuff (the Cool Ghoul), &...just all sorts of fun stuff. The monster is interesting, scary, & not cheesy; it's plausible enough from a biology standpoint to give it extra oomph...there really is all kinds of weird stuff deep in the abyss, most of which we know nothing about.A few things kept me from giving it 5 stars; there's still a few spots of excess history/detailed descriptions. I would've liked to see more of the monster sooner, or have it lurking offstage, as it were. Being a lifelong bio-nerd (emphasis on marine bio) I would really have loved it if Michael had learned some things about it, or at least gotten to dissect it so we could see some cool maybe-alien physiology bits. There were some editing issues (homonyms, misspellings, etc) that another reviewer detailed. But even given that, it's streets better than most of the stuff I run across on the Kindle in that respect.*no, I don't know, have never met the author, am not a relative, tho we did exchange a couple of comments under the first review when I realized the author clearly had roots in Cincinnati, where I was born & spent the first 18 years. But I'm definitely not so nostalgic about Cinci that it affects my reviews!

Good story and very very funny
Globster* was a very funny, as well as gory horror novel. It contained one of the funniest lines I have ever seen in a horror novel and humor was used well throughout. Puns and jokes between two precocious kids and a local movie theatre owner. It all takes place in a small cove in eastern Canada. The story flowed well and although there was “too much exposition” at the beginning, the action ramped up throughout. I’ll be sure to look for more books by DiVito Kelley. There were some typos and errors and I’m listing many of them: ‘formally’ used for ‘formerly’‘Toronto Raptors baseball cap’- If baseball, should be Blue Jays, if Raptors, should be basketball‘would of’ should be either ‘would have’ of ‘would’ve’At the end of chapter 41, the preacher’s shot gun is called a rifle and once more early in chapter 42, then becomes a shotgun, again.‘Dose off’ should be ‘doze off’‘Haden’ should be ‘Hayden’In spite of these, I enjoyed the book and recommend it for lovers of monster fiction.*Globster is a recognized term, as well as ‘blob’, for organic sea masses that wash up on shore.

When is Globster II coming out ??
This is a great monster romp. Good for a summer night or quarantined day. It reminds me of several old movies from the 1950's many of which are mentioned. The characters consists of a Pinniped {look it up} expert and his family who are restoring an old light house (always a great setting) There is a cast of towns folk, a pair of silly constables- Oh it's in Canada - a couple of kids wiser than the adults, also a " John Wayne" hero, who is the local priest. What can I say. As An old time horror flick affectionato, I laughed I cried, never throw a rock at a maybe dead something. Really don't do it. I want a lobster roll...:-)

Humor and horror...loved it!
Love the Seal Cove folks...a small community who enjoy the day to day life of fishing, studying seals, and anything in between. When an unknown big blob washes up on the beach, the community has to band together to make sure the creature is dead and move it to an old swimming pool. Then, they have to band together to stay alive. This story has all the ingredients for a great book including humor, horror and lots of great characters. I loved it and I am hoping for a sequel.

Loved it!
With a title like this, i expected a mediocre B sci fi story. ... And it was... Kind of... But what a fun read! I enjoyed the odd mix of characters... From dopey depties, nerdy scientist, clever kids, Goth guy, to a brave mom and a beer loving priest. By the end of the story, i still wanted to hang out with these people. Its a great tribute to old classic monster movies... And Pop Tarts.

Should have read the reviews first
Had great potential and the writing & editing are decently done but the author falls into that tiresome trap most fledgling writers do, the books drowning in fluff and over detail in everything. You’ll find yourself skimming to find something interesting pertaining to the actual story. Maybe 90 pages of story and the rest is fluff.

Canadian Globster
I don't remember what made me purchase this , but I'm glad I did. First of all, it had me looking up things, which is always a plus if I've learned something along with my reading. It was a fun read. Lighthearted and scary at the same time. I wouldn't mind seeing this bunch of characters tackling something else. Kind of a Nova Scotia Night Stalker perhaps? Or Stalkers in this case.

Well written and worthy of a Good Reads
All of the characters in this book were well fleshed out, even the quickly killed ones. Environments was easily imagined due to all of the details. Settings were current and modern. This entire Book was a 50's B-Giant Monster movie brought up into modern times. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
