Dark, Gloomy and poorly-produced
I bought this book with the hope and expectation of getting some good images of lost parts of the City of York. What transpired is a book that is full of B+W pictures, a good percentage of which are really dark and almost impossible to view.Overall the volume is gloomy. It's clear that some of the images are over 100 years old and come from original negatives - but that's no excuse for not getting them as good as they could be before approving the proofs.Frankly, the book is a mess and certainly not worth the cover price. Memory lane
Although I don't live in York now I was born and bred there. I really enjoyed seeing pictures of old York from days out in the fiftys with my grandmother
