Highly recommend Dr. Daniel Ahn’s book, Principles of Commodity Economics and Finance, for anyone interested in understanding the supply and demand determinants of commodity markets. Also, recommend it as either primer or companion textbook for undergraduate and graduate courses in commodity markets, as his detailed explanations are beneficial for the former and the mathematical appendixes will be useful for the latter. In addition, due the flexibility Dr. Ahn has built into his book, readers and instructors can begin with Module IV: Other Topics covering such concerns as geopolitics, commodity markets and financial regulation, and electricity markets before delving into the other modules on the fundamentals of commodity economics, the financial markets for commodities, or valuation and portfolio choice. Overall, this book is an excellent book and practical guide into the mysteries of energy, metals, and agricultural commodity markets.
