Men's Heritage Duck Chore Coat

This was obviously a good-quality coat. I already owned the "Berne Men's Heritage Duck Hooded Active Work Jacket," and have been using it to do barnyard chores for two years -- that is a very warm, durable, great coat. This item is of the same quality, but runs much larger -- I bought the same size as my other Berne coat, but this one is HUGE on me. (Also, I was looking for a lighter jacket, but that's nothing against this item itself - - just know it's very warm.) Be advised that returns are NOT really "free." When you go through the returns process, at least if your seller is "Z-tek," you'll be notified at the very end that there is a 20% "restocking fee." So you'll be still charged 20% of the cost of the item in the event that you return it.

Expecting the usual 2 weeks delay notice from Amazon, I was very pleasantly surprised when it shipped within just a couple of days --even faster than Amazon originally predicted. It arrives in a typical Amazon box, taped shut but is inside a protective clear plastic bag inside so even if the box got snow or rain on it, wouldn't have made any difference. Been wanting a good, heavy duty rugged coat for the past couple of years but prices kept me from springing for one and trying to make do with my old 4X one, which finally this year couldn't match my needs anymore...so I came hoping Amazon could help! This coat is quilted with a cross pattern stitching over satin inside and well stitched throughout. Has two big flap upper pockets on the outside which seal with velcro, and two zippered ones inside, as well as two slit pockets lower down on the front that don't seal for your hands inside of gloves so you don't have to fumble with getting them open to get your hands inside. The front zipper is good solid brass and not flimsy like the ones on jackets from the one step below "emperor" company that tries to sell you really cheap coats at ridiculously high prices and which fall apart after just one or two years. THIS Coat from Berne is made in Bangladesh and is made of heavy canvas on the outside, very durable, fits with some "extra" in the shoulders, the arms are also quilted inside and long and comfortable when you bend your arms. Comes down below my waist and I'm 6' 4" tall and exceptionally heavy also, as we BIG Men are. I swear I do NOT work for Amazon or the maker or related advertiser etc for this coat - it is just one GREAT Rugged coat and for the money it's outstanding. I paid under $65.00 for mine and you can't touch that price for a decent warm and well built coat anywhere for men of our size these days! I'd give it 6 stars if I could !!

Seems like a quality made work coat to replace my worn out one. A bit bulky for my liking compared to my old coat. Corduroy collar dosen’t stay flat, wish it a bit stiffer & was same material as coat. Don’t like the elastic “wind protection” in sleeves at cuffs. Aside from these little things I believe it’s still a great knockoff for a Carhart work coat at a reasonable price point. ZIPPER IS DIFFICULT TO GET STARTED THE WAY IT WAS PLACED ON COAT…. NEEDS TO BE REDESIGNED.

This coat was bought to replace another field coat from another company that we have had for years and years and kept buying the same brand. This coat will be much loved and I think we are going to switch. Love all of the extra pockets, the extra closure and the fit is wonderful. Love this coat.

I'm a very large man (6'0 weighing 450lbs). Buying a jacket or coat is a nightmare for me, not just because I can't ever find anything that fits, especially in the length or the arms, but also due to pricing. A lousy hooded jacket with fleece insides cost me $85 a few years ago (I've been wearing it since and it looks like it). So, I gave this coat a try, praying that it would work - and it did. I'm so impressed with it that I literally took it off after trying it on and rushed over to the compute to write this review. It is so comfortable and warm, yet not obstructive, like many coats are to larger people. Whoever designed this is a genius. Thank the heavens for Berne and Amazon. To top that off, I only paid about $55 for this. Ordering another color in a month or so when I can to have a spare - better than hunting down a new one in a few years.

heavy duty zipper works perfecly

we had this exact coat as part of our uniform package at work years ago. I wore this coat out. Warmer than my winter work coats. I just took a chance with putting the name in on amazon and was surprised to see the exact same coat was still available. the new one is exactly like my worn out old one. It fits perfectly! Also, it does break in nicely so it is not stiff and clunky. If you do not beat the hell out of it at work like I did, this is really not a bad looking coat for everyday. and plenty of pockets! I wore my old one when I rode my motorcycle in 45degree weather with an extra shirt.this is one of my favorite outer coats, and cheap too!

Good jacket, I'm pleased with the desig, weight and fit. The weak point would be the zipper, they cheaped out, it's not a YKK. It's frustrating to get started, not sure maybe if it's slightly defective. I've become better at getting the finicky zipper started now. Seems to be the only negative aspect of the jacket.

Over all the coat fit is well designed. Found the length and movement range good. I’m 6ft 4. Should be good for fall and winter wear. Hood is sold separately. Where I purchased. Normally use a watch cap Even room for hoodie or sweater.

Roomy, warm and breaks in well. I've had this jacket for about a year now and the quality is great. I live in Canada so we get some pretty cold winters and many days I'm fine just wearing a t shirt under this jacket.

Well made coat , a little on the heavy slide for a summer jacket.

Fit is slightly smaller than carhartt brand should order a size up.

The jacket looked good, what I expected quality wise. The size was too big, I'm 6'4 and 200lbs and the XL fit length wise but was massively baggy where it rode up over my head when I sat down. I was able to send it back but not for free. I think a established company selling uniquely sized work ware should have free returns, I no longer have a jacket and am out of pocket $25 just for shopping with this brand. I would like to get a size smaller but am worried if for some reason it doesn't fit I will be dinged another fee to return.
