Steel Cut Oat Groats Non-GMO (25 lb) by Grain Millers

These are great oats. Gave 4 stars because there are lots of oats in the bag that still have the outer husk on them. This doesn't affect the taste, but it's a little off-putting.

Best value for oaks. Good quality.

In the process of repackaging for storage, I weighed the oats as I always do. The bag came up 1.25 pounds short when weighed by 2 different scales. Otherwise, the oats taste fine. I contacted Grain Millers, and no response. I will contact the supplier next.

As a self-appointed connoisseur of steel cut oats, and having eaten them for more years than I will admit, I can attest that these are the finest that have touched my palate. I add a touch of olive oil in the water and let it boil for a minute (keeps the oats from sticking to the pan if you stir frequently), before I add the oats. Everyone has their preference, but I don't skimp on water, using 3+ cups to 1 cup of oats. These beauties will plump up to scrumptious, chewy pearls that are wonderful alone or garnished with your preferred ingredients, i.e. honey, fruit, pancake syrup, cinnamon, or topped with an egg white omelet with jalepenos. The sky's the limit. Delightful!

I eat a bowl of steel cut oats every morning for breakfast. They provide me with good energy, plenty of soluble fiber, and taste great with the addition of some Himalayan Pink Salt and brown sugar. The only problem is the paper bag in which the oats are shipped. I empty the bag into a 5 gallon plastic pail that has a spin-on, o-ring sealed lid. This keeps the oats fresh and bug free for a significant length of time.

When you eat steel cut oats daily, you use them up quickly. These have a good quality at a good price, which makes buying in bulk worthwhile.

I'm highly satisfied with this product. It tastes better than other sources of steel-cut oats.I eat it every morning plain, and often taste a slight saltiness. Does the product contain salt?
