Great wired solution
I don't usually leave reviews, but this mouse is ergonomically great for my hand and probably the best choice for wired users. This is why I bought it in the first place—to be able to use a wired mouse that didn't hurt my hand. One caveat is that it might not work on all mouse pads. Other than that, it's comfortable, which is what I wanted. I've only been using it for about a week, but it's good enough to leave a review to help someone else find what they're looking for. It's worth the price. I have to comment on my wireless Logitech MX 2. I love that mouse for wireless use, but there's no wired version. I'm loving this mouse for my wired solution; it's great.

horizontal scroll! + v4 -> D on cusp choose large,
If I was going to do it again, I -might- stay with the Evoluent 4, b/c of shape, but the newer button setup is superior... the thumb down button to enable horizontal scrolling is a life saver on my Mac w macOS 14 sequoia at at least....I would definitely go with a large if you're "on the cusp" like I was of their sizing chart for L/M, especially coming from the "normal/large-medium" (non-small) evoluent 4.

My only mouse for the last 20+ years, eliminated my carpal tunnel symptoms
I don't actually remember when I bought my first Evoluent vertical mouse. I've owned at least four. The first two I wore out over time and had to discard when the mouse wheel on one and a left click button on the second one started to malfunction. By then the finish was worn down by my hand moisture from years of use, but everything else still worked. I've only owned the wired models. This newest one was bought because I got a new laptop. I decided I could use the new Evoluent4 with my desktop system and repurpose the older Evoluent4 as the mouse to use with my laptop when convenient. I hate track pads. I saw a YouTube review of this newest version before before buying. The reviewer was completely wrong. He didn't even realize that the DPI setting indicator lights are where they are; he said there weren't any indicators! The shiny surfaces aren't my usual favorite, but I have to say that the previous models matte finish has peeled off over time under my palm. I'm not especially sweaty, I just keep things a long time and use my computer daily, sometimes for hours when gaming. Anyway, I like the new mouse after using it for a month. I'm actually pleased that the DPI change button is now just a single button that cycles through all four settings then starts over. The former rocker button was clumsy and harder to use. The new location of LEDs is easier to see also, as I can just move my thumb instead of having to take my whole hand off of the mouse to see the setting. NICE IMPROVEMENT! I remain a loyal fan and user. My wrist thanks you.

Great Ergonomic Mouse
To start with, I've tried many different designs of ergonomic mice, and vertical mouse designs are by far my favourite and this Evoluent mouse is my favourite among the vertical mouse designs. It's almost a 90 degree tilt so my wrist isn't pronated at all while using it, which is important as I work a desk job and am on the computer for 8+ hours a day. It also fits into my hand extremely well. The pinky rest it has is also an under appreciated addition that many vertical mice do not have, it keeps your pinky from sliding across the desk as you use the mouse. I also really like the functionality of the 6 different buttons you have access to. The default options work great, though it's also nice that there is the option to remap the buttons with the Evoluent mouse driver. The battery life is more than adequate, I only need to swap batteries once every 3-4 weeks (if that) and I have a set of rechargeable batteries on rotation. It's also very easy to use, just plug in the dongle and it should work right away (if you're coming from a "normal" mouse, the adjustment to a vertical mouse might take you a bit to get used to), though you can also install the Evoluent driver to make the mouse more customizable. That said, it's not a perfect mouse. I think the materials used in the mouse could be of higher quality to increase the durability of the mouse. This is my second Evoluent mouse after the first one broke after roughly a year and a half of usage. Also, the exterior of the mouse is a high gloss plastic, which, although it looks nice, can actually make gripping the mouse without your hand sliding around a bit difficult, especially for people like me who have naturally sweaty hands. That said, a simple solution to this is to take some sandpaper to the glossy plastic and rough up the exterior of the mouse. It dramatically improves the grip.If I were to suggest any changes, it would be to make the mouse (or a new edition of the mouse) with higher quality materials, offer an alternative exterior material that has much more grip to it, and extend the pinky rest to wrap around and offer a palm rest as well.Despite these drawbacks, as I said earlier, this is easily my favourite mouse. I already mentioned that I'm on my second one and I will continue to get Evoluent mice because their ergonomics are just perfect for me.
