"EL CUCUY" a cool movie!
I like it because it's based in an old traditional Mexican folk tales passed down from generation to generation. Even though it's a movie from the Sci-Fi Channel in a family oriented manner the acting is surprisingly good and the effects are well enough to make it as a entertainable movie expressing the story telling the Mexican version of the boogie "el cucuy". A movie that can be watch in the living room for all ages.

If there's Nothing else to watch
Starts with a bit of Fred's of Hollywood tramp wear. But if that's what you want to watch it doesn't continue throughout.Audio stinks, dialogue very hard to hear.Slow and silly with a lot of teen angst.Picks up a bit at the end, but most action scenes are dark to hide that nothing much is happening. The cucuy looks nice. Too bad there is not enough Cucuying.

Pretty Decent Except All The Action Scenes Were Dark Blank Screens With Sound Effects
Cuycuy-The Boogeyman was a pretty decent B-movie icky bug. Based on an old Latin American legend, it was a lot better than some of this genre. My only real issue was that every time the monster showed up, the scenes went dark and I could hardly see a thing. That was probably because they went super cheap on the special effects and didn’t want the audience to see how cheesy the icky bug was up close.I hate when they make the scenes so dark, you can’t even see details while watching it in a dark room. Basically, the screen was blank and dark with sound effects. That pretty much sucks. Otherwise, I had a great time and despite this movie being geared to the teen slasher set, without the obligatory nude scenes this time, it was still a good movie. Recommended.

Malo
The small town of Glimmer Park is annoyed by a cucuy or boogeyman who kidnaps bad children, fattens them up in his cave, and eats them with his big teeth. Certain kids are singled out. Sofe (Jearnest Corchado) who is under house arrest for defending her sister smelly Melly (Bella Stine) from bullies is on the case. Melly is mute and deaf when she wants to be and also eats Chinese food with a spoon. (Who does that? Where those the only utensils they could find when shooting the film?)The cucuy had a face that looked like it was made of rubber, but the effect wasn't too bad. It has a simple if not classic plot for a kid's horror story.Guide: No F-words, sex, or nudity.
