Mommy and Me is truly wonderful
This is a straightforward, easy to understand story of a single Mom who wanted a baby.Clearly explains the donor process without giving the intricate details. Makes it easy for a young child to understand.Great story for how families are m made and the different kinds of families.

Good book overall
This book is good for a child of an SMBC. I like the overall story and it put into words what I wanted to say about having chosen a donor. However there are a few things in the book that seem out of place (like some mommies get pregnant on first try and others take a long time). I almost want to remove some pages and re-order some others to get a better flow.

Great book for a young child of a single mom by choice
I bought this book to read to my 5 year old son, it was perfect for his age and our specific family dynamic (single mother by choice that conceived using donor sperm). The book doesn’t get into any medical terms or anatomy, it just simply tells the story of a mom that wants to have a child and does so with the help of a donor and a doctor. It also talks about all of the love this mom has for her child and how all types of families are unique, but that love is the most important thing that makes them all the same.

Jesus page??
Story is fine, had a few lines I would prefer gone but the concept is fine for us. However, right smack dab in the middle of the book is a full page that says “With Jesus I am calm”. Very disappointed to have that snuck in there. But I just ripped the page out.

My daughter loves this book
I bought this for my 2.5 year old and she just loves it. She feels extra loved, wanted, and confident in our family with the help of this book. She likes to look at the page with all of the family members and friends and we say who (from our circle) each person is. Thank you!!

Faulty printing
The book shipped seem to have a printing error. It actually contains half the pages of another book at the beginning and then only the end of this book. But I cannot find the return/refund options 🤷🏻♀️

Single Mom by choice
This book is everything! I love everything about this book. As a single mom by choice, this book is so beautifully written and describes different families in such a sweet way. My 5 year old son loves this book and wants me to read it to him, just about every night, he loves that this book is "our" story.Thank you Elizabeth for writing such a beautiful book that is so needed.

Very americanised explanation book
Very Americanised language - I didn't like it and so returned it. Bought it as a 'single mum by choice' but it has emphasis on multiple different family structures including families that do have dads which I thought would just confuse my 2 Yr old rather than help him and wasn't relevant to us as a family. Also poor quality print.

Simple explanations for different kinds of families
Simplified story to show families are all different. Easy to understand. Only downside is that there isn’t much of a storyline, but rather an explanation. But it is great for starting conversations with our children about how they were to be.

Too bad it's so...
"White" and heteronormative. Nice that it mentions a home might have two mommies or two daddies, but we see only three people--a mom, a kid, and a doctor. All are White, and the doctor is a White guy. Other than that, it's a nice, safe story that leaves the nitty gritty out, and let parents decide whether and how they want to explain sperm or embryo donation, surrogacy, etc. to their kiddo. Cool that the kid narrator exemplifies confident, happy declaration that he's part of a Mom and kid family, when people ask if he has a dad.
