Historical architecture and political drama
What a great mix this table book delivers…..architecture even for non architects, political drama on site with King Louis XIV. A great combination of photography, antique maps, and impossible to replicate furnishings. It gets you wondering what it would have been like to attend the fete for Louis!

A wonderful book about my favorite chateau!
I have visited the chateau 3 times including the candlelight dinner and fireworks. The chateau and the Nicholas Fouquet story are unforgettable. The lesson is don’t show off to your boss. It is also a story of the beginning of Versailles. The family that owns it should be proud!Bill Smith, Truckee, Ça.

Disappointing
I was expecting an exceptional photographic portrait of this fantastic building. Instead photos are limited to a few spaces and seem repetitive. A book like this should come with floor plans and insight into every major room in the residence. None of the photos look dramatic or give much punch to the grandeur of the place. Disappointing.

Beautiful book on Vaux!
This is a beauty of a book and does the subject matter justice! Quality of paper, size, photos, text -- love it all!

Interesting picture book. Does not give much idea of how the current inhabitants
Would have liked floor plans and photos of the current use of the building. Most of the photos are closeups. Limits understanding of the rooms.
