New, Cookbooks for treats and everyday foods for everyone’s collection.
I guess that if anything is true, I have learned that cooking is not easy for a person like me. I didn’t learn how to cook while growing up; I was always outside working with my dad. My head under the hood of a big rig and fetching tools. My brothers hated working with him, and I was the only one that loved it. I did learn how to fend for myself with cars and almost anything else. My dad always said, “it was good to be a girl, but that girl needed to know how to be self-sufficient.” Well, I definitely am that, thanks to him. Oh, and he always made me wear gloves still to have soft hands WITHOUT grease under the nails!!! LOL, I have collected cookbooks to fix anything that I want. I love having digital ones; they don’t take up any space. Also, having a small family now that the kids and grandkids are grown, having a cookbook is the only way to make smaller portions.

Wonderful recipes!
This is a remarkable cookbook, containing everything from precise ingredient amounts, cooking instructions, helpful tips, recipes for glazes, and free digital access to label making programs. I love Bonnie Scott - she keeps me happy in my kitchen. When I first began collecting various recipes for goodies stuffed in jars, it was strictly ingredients and I loved them for gifts - add the appropriate dried ingredients to a pint or quart canning jar, top and label, and gift a chocolate cake to an unhappy neighbor or your best friends bad day. They, in turn, would add liquid ingredients, mix, bake, and enjoy. Bonnie Scott goes a whole other route - bake the cake in a jar and the recipient just opens the jar and enjoys. I don't know why it took so long for this to come about, but I love it. Unfortunately, I am usually the recipient of this style of her talented offerings. So today is a 'bad' day for me, as well... But fat and happy is not always a bad thing...This excellent how-to book from Bonnie Scott has really made my week! Thank you.

GREAT IDEA FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO HAVE A DESSERT ON HAND AT ALL TIMES
This book was bought for our daughter, who is a working Mom of three children all under the age of 11. She was delighted with the recipes and the fact that many of them could have the ingredients put into the jars and then finished and baked when she needed something for dessert of for company when time was in short supply. But, it turned out that she gave the book back to me and asked ME to whip up some of the jars for her pantry and then each week or so, I fix up some of the perishable recipes for her to finish and serve after one of her long and busy days at work. We have loved the apple crisp and I find that the molten lava cakes are great as if it weren't for the restriction of only ONE jar I would have eaten a lot more, but with this method you have more control. So far everything we made went over well with most of us, but there are no pumpkin loves in this family so those recipes will not be made, but just about all the others will be tried. I found a few dozen canning jars on sale at the end of summer to use for these make-ahead desserts so I will have plenty available when some are made up in advance, which is a big plus with these recipes in jars.I would think that there is "something for everyone' for recipes in this nice book. It would make a nice gift for someone who is always on the go and working as they can have these all ready to bake with the addition of a last minute ingredient or two when time is so short for them.I would recommend this for anyone with kids and even better for picky kids as eating out of a jar is fun no matter what your age, but would appeal to kids as we have found out in our family. And some of the recipes can be made with some of your personal touches and varying the ingredients if you don't like or want something in particular in the jar.It is fun to make and bake or make and serve this way if not easy for you if made up when you have more time and then finished when you are rushed for time.Cynthia.

Nice cover but the whole book seems like a low ...
Nice cover but the whole book seems like a low budget effort. All photos inside are black and white. I personally need a better visual to have creations appeal. Good ideas and I imagine good recipes but I need a better layout to inspire me. Maybe it's old age.

Yum!
There is nothing low calorie about these so if you seek low calories, move along. Nothing to see here.If you are seeking big taste in small jars, you found it. These recipes are easy to make and bake in serving sized portions. Recipes are well written and easy to follow. My favorite section is the flavored whip creams. Those are right up my alley and I will be making a few cakes with flavored whip cream as icing. Lots of cakes to choose from, trifles, etc... Make them fancy or simple, the choice is yours. Bake them for home use or give them as gifts. (This book included would be a special gift for a baker!)When baking in jar, remember, glass shatters. Hot jars out of the oven that are touched with something cold can explode. Handle hot jars with extra care, do not bump or brush them against surfaces or touch them with utensils. Handle with pot holders. Sit them on fabric, not directly on the counter or the stove to reduce the risk of shattering.

Not great
Great recipes but only giving 2 starts because it's in black and white so can't get a feel for the puddings. Not great but can't really moan for the price
