Review: Informative and fun - It is time to focus some of that energy you spend at the gym and spent some time on your mind. I'm a firm believer that commonsense has become a rare gift only given to select few of our population after reading this book and using some of it's techniques I wonder if more people would put energy into working on their minds as much as they put into their body and appearance, but commonsense make a comeback. This book is great it's insightful give you countless ideas and exercises and techniques you put into your every day life and unlike other books in the same genre, it's explained why and how different exercises benefit and in what ways. This gives you the knowledge and the ability to take a suggestion that may not be convenient for you to apply but still sounds like fun and change different aspects of it so that it can work easily into your every day life. The fact that you could discreetly keep it on any of your Mobile devices with bookmarks highlights and notes on all the exercises that you want to try throughout the day, it makes it so easy to apply it to your daily life and just the fact that you're trying to do something to improve yourself it's gonna make you feel better whether the technique works or not. Believe it or not taking a shower brushing my teeth brushing my hair and getting ready for bed in complete darkness was actually a fun experiment for me. A little change out of mundane. The knowledge but your mind your body become more self-aware all wrapped up into one read. I received this product for free or at a discount in exchange for my honest unbiased review in there you have it I hope you enjoy. Oh so sorry one last thing. I took off 1/2 star because I felt like a lot of the book was explaining why exercising the mind is important in the benefits that come of it and so I kept thinking I know this, that's why am reading however I got back to thinking about the mess lack of common sense in the population and realized the book probably does need that explanation so I didn't take the Star off. Review: The Gift That Keeps On Giving - I was genuinely surprised by this product. I was expecting it to be things like brain teasers and crossword puzzles; however, it is actually a very good, information filled book about different ways to exercise the brain. As a 41 year old mother of 5, I sometimes find it hard to even remember what day it is, much less my children's names. This book is supposed to help the brain produce new brain cells; which, to many would be a life-saver! I learned several tips and techniques in this reading that I have started to implement in my every day life. Things like trying to name spices just by tasting them, brushing my teeth or hair with my non-dominant hand, and playing soduko several times a week. I have even seen family members trying exercises. For example, my thirteen year old son came in from school as I was trying one of the several exercises, walking backward through the house. Immediately, he wanted to know what in the world I was trying to accomplish. When I told him this was to help my brain to be healthy, I thought he would lose his breath due to laughing so violently. Later that night, after reading about trying to do things around your home in the dark in order to tone in your other senses, I had my son try as well. It was amazing how difficult this was to do at first; however, we have been doing that same exercise once every day for the last four days, and we are both surprised how easy it is becoming. This book is about empowering the reader with the power to improve your brain and memory. There are a lot of positive things listed here that I will probably never try, such as yoga and lots of exercise. Of course the author did choose to include the lifestyle choices like drnking plenty of water, etc. I did find one problem with the exercises presented in the text. I could not tell if these were meant for adults, teens, children, or what age group. Yes, they help one from suffering from dimensia or alzheimers; however, so do some foods and other everyday things in life. I feel they could have separated this out a bit to put in games or puzzles for every age group. Point is, the exercises talked about in this slow read, are working. I yelled at my kids today and got all their names right the first time!! Improvement beyond my wildest dreams. I definitely would not have been able to finish this book had it been any longer, but I'm very glad I did! I think many will find this book useful and helpful. It is easy to read, spoken in terms easy to understand, and all around easy to follow and implement into any lifestyle. I received this book free for my honest, unbiased opinion.

Lots of good information but isn't an exercise workbook per se
I recently read another of the author's books, Exercise and the Brain. I liked that book as I thought it was an interesting introduction to brain exercise and gave valuable information on how to determine what exercises may be best for you. When I found this book, I thought it would have more specific exercises in it and be more of a workbook than it is. There's a lot of text that is similar or the same from that book into this one. This book does have some additional sections on various types of exercises but overall they were somewhat dissapointing. I like that he gave some specific examples of exercises and explained why he thought they might be helpful. I wish there was more of this given the recent explosion of brain training games and apps as well as many physics, word, puzzle and code games/apps/books/sites available. Maybe guidance on which may be best for various age groups or experience levels could be included. The crosswords at the end of the book didn't display properly in my Kindle edition. The game board and the solved board appeared, but no clues for filling in the blank board. The numerical exercises section was not up to par in terms of the quality of explanation. Normally, concepts are explained in as non-technical terms as possible, which wasn't the case here. My dad taught various math courses from elementary to college age, so I'm familiar with having complex mathematical issues described simply. Also, this section didn't leave you with many ideas you could readily try, more research than should be required is left to the reader. For the speed reading, I would've like a site, book, or app mentioned so that you'd be sure you were developing comprehension as well as speed and for more guidance on timing this. I feel that this book should be two books or have two sections. One's more about learning what the exercises are about, what they can do, how to choose ones that are best for you, and an introduction to the concepts behind the various categories of exercises. The other would be exercises organized by category you can do without further research as well as recommendations for exercises you'd be getting from apps or games or sites. He could also make checklists so you could note what you're interested in pursuing or give example schedules of training sessions focused on specific areas and/or amount of time required. This would make the book be more usable, less overwhelming, and more organized. There's some good stuff in this book as there was in the other one I read. There's some new (compared to the other one) information that is useful. But as currently constructed, it's sometimes too complicated or appears as a brain dump of everything he could think of relating to the subject. I received this at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review.

Quick and Worthwhile Read
This book focuses on the topic of neurobic exercises - what they are, why you should be doing them, and how to do them. I found the topic interesting and the stated benefits of neurobics exciting, but this book was really just an overview. The author never really delved too deep into the topics, especially when it came to the exercises themselves. That being said, I still feel like I have some good takeaways from the book. To be honest, if it was more in-depth and stretched out much longer than 60 pages I never would have finished it. Neurobics are brain exercises that supposedly produce brain cells, something no one thought possible until very recently. There are quite a few chapters on suggested exercises - some which I probably won't ever do, but a few I could see myself doing - like brushing my teeth with my less dominant hand, walking backward through the house and trying to do certain things in the dark which forces you to engage your other senses. My biggest takeaway was that doing the same things over and over is not good for the brain. It is important to take the initiative to challenge your brain and engage your senses with new things. I do have a few complaints about the book. At times the paragraphs seemed pretty disorganized. The first chapter had a short section on what to do in addition to neurobics - lifestyle stuff like drinking plenty of water, exercises, getting enough Omega-3s, etc. But then it just kept jumping back and forth between paragraphs on neurobics and random lifestyle tips. It was kind of all over the place and hard to follow. One paragraph stated that there is nothing better for the brain than neurobic exercises...except for turmeric root which seemed like a pretty bold statement to be left to just one sentence. There is an entire chapter on number exercises that described different techniques, but not actually how to do them. And there were a bunch of crossword puzzles at the end, with answers, but no clues. Maybe that's because I had the Kindle version? Overall, I thought it was an interesting book and I hope to incorporate neurobics into my daily routine. It's a quick and worthwhile read.

Interesting, educational read
I downloaded Jason Scotts Exercises for the Brain and Memory book. It wasn't what I expected but it was interesting. It explains everything in plain language so it's easily understood and comprehended. It gives you examples of things you can do to help with brain function and memory. I've never really put much thought into it. The beginning was a bit slow for me then one line caught me and made me want to continue reading. He said (and I paraphrase as I don't remember the exact working) is that the mind and brain are two different things. I had never really thought about it as such. He explains Neurobic exercises and the important roles they play. He even tells you which puzzles and things help in certain ways. This is a well written, well explained, interesting book. I purchased this book for free for an honest unbiased review. Pros: Very informational and educational Well Written Easy to read and comprehend Cons: Starts a little slow.

Necklaces make good belts, ties are excellent bracelets and hats can ...
ODD is all I can say! This is not what I was expecting at all! Let me give you a few interesting tidbits of BASIC NEUROBIC EXERCISES: "Wear clothing with textures. Wear your clothes inside out or backwards. If possible wear pajamas during the day and casual clothes at night for a week. If you are able, wear shoes on your hands or as a hat. Necklaces make good belts, ties are excellent bracelets and hats can become purses." "Switch the menu for breakfast to foods you normally eat at lunch like hamburgers. Top this with some of every condiment you can think of. Instead of a bun, try a tortilla, cornbread, bagel or pita. Do not just taste the different items; look at the food color and the new unusual textures. How does this new breakfast smell or feel in your hands? For lunch, make pancakes or have bacon and eggs. Sit on the table or floor. Eat from a large serving platter or a fancy glass. Eat with chop sticks." "Speak in all quotes for one hour or one day" Another exciting tidbit from EXERCISES TO ENHANCE THE SENSES: "Communicate non-verbally for a day. If you are able to make it for a day, then go ahead and aim for an entire week of non-verbal communication with others." OH and a smashing idea from MEMORY PUZZLES: "Angry Birds Yes, while it is one of the most popular applications of all time, it is also a great way to test your brain. This is because the game uses physics in order to determine where your birds fly, especially in the "Angry Birds: Space" and "Angry Birds: Star Wars" versions. You have to alter the flight path of your bird in order to circle planets and asteroids, and if you don't do it at just the right angle, it is not going to work at all. This is a fun game for all ages, and it requires you to process all information in the game in order to be successful." This book definitely has some good info, but is not for me. I was expecting more puzzle. Maybe this might be great for some people, but I won't be reading this ever again! It was a pretty quick read. I received this for free for my honest and unbiased review.

Brain Exercises
As I get older, I realize more and more the importance of exercising my brain. I am getting a little more forgetful as I begin to grow older. The beginning of this book explains the importance of developing cognitive skills and exercising your brain. The author discusses how to develop cognitive skills. The author also defines cognitive abilities and how to develop them. The author also indicates that there is a need to focus on every task intensely to make it effective. He also goes into advance cognitive skills and how to obtain memory retention with training and expanding our minds. He talks about improving skills with brain and memory exercises. He has several different chapters on different exercises that you can do, a chapter on basic neurobic exercises, a chapter on speed exercises, a chapter on exercises to enhance the senses, a chapter on exercises to combine the senses and a chapter on number exercises for your brain and memory. He has a great section on word puzzles and how they help. He has a section on memory puzzles that you can do to help improve your memory. He also has a section on brain teaser puzzles. The author has included in the book some crossword puzzles to do. I plan to print them out and do them. I thought this was a good add on to the book. This is a book that can be used over and over again to improve cognitive skills and memory. This book was bought at a discount for an unbiased and honest review.

Semplice passatempo
