Fascinated
If you don't like Mathematics, GET THIS..........If you like Mathematics, GET THIS BOOK...........All in all, I am saying GET IT. This book is so fascinating, interesting and you will learn so much. It is not too big, or complicated. Just right. You will learn that there is a number considered of "no value" really has value and that there is something less than that no value number........interesting right? Yes........Best book ever

I found it very interesting
The equations do not display very well on the Paperwhite but the book itself is very informative. Could have gone into more recent math history.

Different but outstanding
I have to disagree respectfully with the negative reviews of this book. First, it is exceptionally well written. Second, the manner in which it is organized, while unique, certainly has its benefits. Instead of taking a purely chronological approach to the history of mathematics, the authors decided instead to write from both a chronological and thematic perspective of the subject. The first third of the text provides a brief overview of the entire history of mathematics, while the latter two-thirds is composed of a series of historical vignettes. These "sketches" (as the authors dub them) relate the stories of about 30 specific developements deemed central to the maturation of the subject. The first sketch, for example, covers the evolution of numeral systems. In a solely chronological text, this account would be scattered over some 500-600 pages. Thus, this book's organization makes it a great reference volume every mathematician would appreciate having on their shelves.

Excellent
This is a great book. The fist 60 pages are a general history of math and the subsequent pages are "sketches" that go into more depth on some of the more important topics throughout math's history. It is very well written and has an excellent list of resources and suggestions for further reading.

Perfect for teachers
Accurate and detailed information. Perfect for teachers, and even better for aspiring mathematics teachers. Having an understanding of the history of mathematics allows for deeper understanding of the subject as a whole. Great quality as well.

Well illustrated and a good book to read
within a week I had learned to write numbers in 4 different ancient number systems.

Very bad printing quality!
Though the content might be good, the printing quality is really the worst one for books I have bought on Amazon: paper is very thin and the text is not clear.
