This is the most beautiful collection of various pieces of writing on what Europe has personally meant in the lives of different artists, writers, thinkers, historians Some pieces are short, some longer, but all are moving in their way, and were offered on the eve of Britain's departure from the EU. It is a must-have for those for whom belonging in the wider European community of nations seems an indispensable pat of their identity. I have already given it to several friends.

At this time of great change and uncertainty on whether we leave or stay in the Union, it is lovely to read all these personal stories honouring times spent well in Europe. It is good to be reminded of the beauty of our relationship, and in being a European. It’s a bit like the end of a loving relationship which, when just on the cusp of separation and possibly divorce, we come across an album of snapshots revealing happy and joyful times, and we wonder, ‘Are we doing the right thing?’I have bought five copies. They will make perfect stocking fillers!

I really enjoyed reading other views on the consequences of Brexit, some quite controversial, some sad but all of them will widen your own perspective on our departure from the EU!
