Golden State Art, Pack of 20 11x14 BLACK Picture Mats with White Core Bevel Cut for 8x10 Pictures

Pack in super tight so it appears there are only 10. However, there are 20 in the case. will order again

This is my second order of 16X20 black mats from Golden State Art. First time around as with this order they arrived sooner than estimated, they came, like my first order well packed, each mat facing each other and covered by shrink wrap. Even the Amazon "P8" box it arrived in comes in handy. I take a mat, foam core cut to size and in a plastic sleeve place them in the Amazon box and mark it appropriately. When a client's proofs arrive from the lab it's a piece of cake to mount and seal, ready for delivery. I've also ordered in the past 5X7" and 4X6" Photo Folders from Golden State as well and everything mentioned above again, holds true. *** Even if you were to take one 16X20 mat and with a mat cutter remove 1/4" from the inner cutout for that Classy Double mat effect, it's STILL cheaper than any Brick and Mortar even with their weekly coupon of 40% to 50%. If you are a Professional Photographer, or aspiring and want to impress your clients with your finished work (no thumb drive and have them go to Walgreens to print out their Wedding photos you charged $1000.00) This is the way to go, I've done the research, if there is something better - Please let me know. Bought these to package up some small art prints so they'd look more professional. Looked for mat, bag and backer board kits like this set online and found the shipping charges to be outrageous. Took a chance and ordered these. Seem to be of decent quality. The black mats are all in good shape and the backer board is just thick cardboard (basically) so can't complain there. Clear bags for the mat and backer well. Looks professional enough once the print sets are together. Wish there were more mat sizes - I prefer a larger border around my prints. This one is too thin for my liking but that's only my preference. Seller has other size kits available on Amazon but not as much as they have on their website. Set was packaged well in a nice flip top box and nothing was damaged. Will probably use these again until I find a reasonable source for more mat kit sizes. (*Not sure why Amazon asks me to rate the "adhesion", not applicable here)

1-3-2017 I just upgraded my review to 5 stars - took a chance and reordered - this newest batch arrived properly wrapped (not too tight) and all the corners were perfect. Thanks for listening to my suggestion from last time.12-9-2016 I am upgrading my review to 4 stars. About a week after I unwrapped the mats (discovering the crimped corners) it appears they have 'relaxed' and are no longer crimped. YAY ! So I'm assuming the crimping was caused by TOO-TIGHT-PLASTIC WRAP around the mats for storage/shipping. PERHAPS THIS CAN BE ADJUSTED AT THE FACTORY ? Knowing this I will (yes) reorder when needed.11-30-2016 Unfortunately the whole batch was 'crimped' in one corner. While this will not be noticeable IF framed, it is noticeable in the protective cellophane envelope for presentation. I would suggest the manufacturer get a NEW BLADE. Disappointing but I don't have time to order a new pack - they are needed for a special event. Photos attached. I would not order these again. Too bad, because I've ordered the multiple-colored packs of mats many times without any such issues. ( Feel free to send me a free replacement pack. Thanks. )

Golden State Art provides a decent B+ pre-cut mat in several formats which saves me a great deal of time. Combined with the hefty backing boards offered by Golden I can accurately mount and mat a print in under five minutes and be done. The outer black finish almost equals a Crescent board, however the ply is not as hefty which leaves you with barely noticeable bevels in the corners. I would not use them for a finished, framed print, but for cellophane sleeved, matted prints displayed for gallery sale I've no problem with them at all. This has become my standard practice. It obviously allows you to price competitively while still displaying your work optimally. The black mat really makes your colors pop. I'm told by Golden that the fronts and backs of the mats and backing boards are of archival nature. The cores are not. I am not Michelangelo and I truly doubt my art will be hung in temperature/humidity controlled environments, so the outside possibility of print deterioration prior to 150 years is not a factor. Pros: Attractive, nicely priced, quick to use. Con: You're stuck with the formats offered. My finishing studio is well stocked with these products.

I’m using these for a crafting project. I’m decoupaging photos on these boards and displaying on picture ledges. I’ve always used stretched canvas panels before but these are so much better! The edges are finished. The panels accept the mod podge but it doesn’t really soak in, (doesn’t soak up and require too much). The boards are sturdy. They are finished nicely and packaged well. I just ordered two more. On my subsequent order however the “discount” wasn’t applied. Disappointed with that but love this product!

They work great! They are sturdy and I was able.to use they without a frame hang as is. They look very impressive

I've looked for these in places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels. The prices were 4.98 for just one and their quality was not even close to what I received for the bundle I received recently! Thank you so much! I can now mat my watercolor paintings and sketchings.....Great packaging and delivery was on target. Just ordered the mixed color ones. M

Beautiful photo mats which I recommend. First I cut foam board, then lay the mat on top, then with pencil I mark the inside corners, spay the foam board with a craft glue, centre the 8x10 photo over the pencil marks & smooth down. Then lay the mat on top and you will have a very nicely matted photo. The thin white bevelled cut sets off the photo in the black mat.

All mats are clean, well cut and ready to use out of the box. Very happy with product

Decent quality mats, fairly sturdy for single-mats. Edges are clean & neat, no loose fibres or ragged cuts or anything like that. Arrived sooner than expected too. A couple of them had marks, seemingly from being so tightly compressed together when wrapped by the manufacturer. I would buy them again

I liked the product. The packaging was great and I feel I got the value for the money.
