The Norton Anthology of Poetry Paperback – January 1, 1983

I was very excited to see the number of authors and number of poems for each author that have been included in The Norton Anthology of Poetry. While many of the authors have become well-known in popular culture, there were several whose names and work I was only familiar with by way of reference from other books I have read over the years. The Commentary at the back of the book was an unexpected "plus" - it offers the reader a crash course in the mechanics of creating poetry and illustrates the different styles. This book will be a valuable addition to any serious writer's reference library.

It was a little beat up, but I should have expected that. The current edition is $85, which makes this a great value.

This book will be appreciated by everyone from those new to poetry to fairly advanced readers. It covers a huge range of styles, and includes intelligent, appropriate footnote annotations that are well worth reading. It's printed well, on very good paper. I've had mine for decades, and I got this one for my nephew, rather than take a chance on something newer. If you buy one poetry book in your life, this would be it.

Well, it showed up quickly. Not that I don't like poetry or anything, but it was for school so there's only so many smiles I can share. 5 stars, got what I paid for in a timely fashion.

Handy resource for famous poets and poems.

This was a used version but in great shape. A lot of well loved poems.
