Amazing scanner, does much more than others
I bought this to use with the OBD JScan App on my Jeep JK. This is an amazing code reader that does so much more than other readers I’ve had. It will actually read all of the codes, not just engine codes but ABS, air bags, transmission, and other systems. It’s almost as good as some of the high dollar units that auto shops use. You have to pay less than $20 per VIN to unlock the full capabilities of the JScan app, but it’s money well-spent. I’ve been fighting an air bag light and this actually told me exactly what was causing it, saved me a ton of time. It will tell you which wheel speed sensor is bad, stuff like that. If you have a CANBUS Mopar vehicle, I highly recommend this code reader.

Amazing Product!
I purchased this to make some changes to my BMW 428i xDrive. I use the Bimmer Code app with this OBD2 unit and I must say it is truly simple and easy to use. I disabled my iDrive "Confirm" screen, increased the brightness of the angle eyes, set my iDrive to turnoff once the door is opened vs having to depress the engine start/stop button twice. Just those changes alone made it worth it and only took about 5 minutes start to finish.

Didn't work... And ghosted
I really did want this to work. Obviously I would not have ordered it otherwise. But after several days of trying, and waiting for a reply from customer service, I gave up and bought a different brand. The new brand worked immediately and was able to accomplish exactly what I wanted.Vgate was rated high and expected a little more, but after receiving and following the very cloak-and-dagger like instructions to get this thing to work, I began to lose confidence. The other brand that I bought literally worked the very first time that I plugged it in.So to sum up vgate did not workOther brand work first timeI will of course update if I hear anything back from vgate.

Worth the money!!!
This little guy was a life saver. Check engine light came on and I don’t have an OBD-2 reader handy. Ordered the icar pro and got readings in minutes. You download the app and you can do the free version or pay for most of your readings. I paid because it tells you your mpg and temps while driving. It also allows me to reset my codes after doing maintenance. With my truck getting older I wanted to be able to monitor it without putting gauges in. This thing works great.

Don't Bother
This is the worst electronic part I have purchased in quite some time....It will not connect to any device unless you use their app that does nothing unless you pay more $$ to unlock the app. Tried to connect to some pid's on my diesel truck in vain.I tried in vain several times to get it connected to my Iphone 12 pro....nope. Without their app, it is a piece of junkI am returning it asap! Life is too short.

Perfect fit for BMW coding
This product came highly recommended to me from a guy who had done some coding on my car. With covid making it harder for him to meet with people in person he turned me on to the product that was easy to use and price perfect, that saved me lots $$$ from paying a professional coder. Buy this product for your BMW you won't be disappointed.

Just what I needed.
I'm using this on my 2016 JKU. You do have to buy a license with OBDJSCAN which is the app I use along with this item. This helped me reprogram my speedometer considering I have 33's and I reprogrammed my daytime lights with this. With the app fully unlocked you can mod many things, this goes beyond just being a code reader but you need a device like this to make that work and it worked for me w/o issues. If you leave it in as I tend to do it will turn itself off after 30minutes so it doesn't drain your battery.

Dead after two months.
Worked great for two months then completely dead. I would expect to get more than two months use out of it.

Manufacturing error - could've bricked the car
Got the Vgate iCar Pro BLE 4.0 today, connected to the car, used Bimmercode to read some settings, changed one setting and hit code. Everything went OK so far, ECU restarts and I go back to the app to change more settings, but the Bluetooth connection dropped. The iCar was hot so I pull it out, leave it for a 30 seconds, plug in again, Bluetooth reconnects but it drops again after a minute or so and that happens every time ... needs some time to cool down, works for a few minutes then Bluetooth drops. This thing could never work in real life as it had a huge problem with overheating.Luckily, I do electronic circuit design and I have a lab at home.I take the unit apart and see it's basically a stack of a MCU/interface board and a Bluetooth board, connected to each other via a 6 pin header. The thermal camera shows overheating on the Bluetooth board, where there is a microcontroller, a Realtek radio interface and a few parts for a voltage regulator (XC6206 LDO regulator and a PNP/NPN transistor pair - MMBT5401 and MMBT3904). As the unit was working for a while the first assumption was the parts work fine but they are dissipating too much power. Now, the micontrontroller and radio interface run on 3.3V, so it's fair to assume the board is supplied with something like 5V ... but lo and behold, it was receiving 12V from the main board. This increased the thermal dissipation on the XC6206 about 5x, no wonder the tiny chip shut itself down after a few minutes to protect from overheating / melting / catching fire. The main board is actually designed to supply either 12V (or more likely ~14V with the engine running) or 5V to the Bluetooth board and by placing a "0 ohm" resistor in either R57 or R58 position the factory makes the selection. Obviously the resistor was placed in the (wrong) R57 position so I moved it to R58 (see pictures), powered up the board and everything seems to be working now. This is a simple mistake due to poor quality control, but it might be present in the entire batch !If the Bluetooth connection dropped in the middle of a coding transfer the ECU could've been bricked; a modern BMW ECU costs many hundreds of £££ to recover and a few thousands to replace. I was extremely lucky it only dropped right after I did the first coding.Definitely this product can't be trusted now.

It’s a code reader only!
I have a BMW F30 and an iPhone and following instructions on the app it worked OK but only as far as reading the codes on the car but as soon as I tried to adjust the settings it asked me to pay an additional £25!So BEWARE ! This is code reader only!

Excellent Product
After been told by so called experts that my bmw 3 series f30 couldn't be coded to play enhanced Bluetooth audio, i searched online and found out that if my car has a combox in the trunk it can be coded. This adapter is so worth the money. I can now listen to music without an annoying cable. Full control using the steering wheel and i have album art also. there is so much to change using the bimmercode app like when i reverse into a parking space my wing mirror automatically turns down so i can see the kerb, i can now see how much air pressure and temperature of my tyres, sport displays, etc. there is lots that can be coded, You have to pay for the bimmercode app which is a superb app. If you have a bmw i highly recommend, fantastic. P.S. Thanks to the guys at f30 bimmerpost forums

Works fine on iOS
I read a lot of reviews saying this does not work with iOS. I can only speak for myself.I have an iPhone X running iOS 12.3 and I have successfully connected it to Auto Doctor and Bimmercode.Just be aware that the device does not show up in the Bluetooth settings on your phone, at least at first.Read the instructions that came with the Vgate regarding connecting to the Vgate.Once the Vgate has connected to Auto Doctor, if you check your Bluetooth settings again, you will see that it is now showing as connected. Also for those people saying it only reads codes unless you pay extra, your are getting confused. It is the App you downloaded that needs paying for, you do not need to pay any extra for the Vgate to clear codes. It is at least half the size of other similar OBD interfaces and fits in my Toyota Aygo and is completely out of sight and not in the way. Great, since because of the power management, you can leave it plugged in all the time.Is it expensive? Only you can decide. For me I thing it is reasonable for just under £30.

Great for anyone wanting to run PHEV Watchdog
Wonderful little compact bluetooth OBDII device that sits really nice and flush in the OBD port without sticking out too much. LEDs are very bright (almost too bright).Bought to use with PHEV Watchdog with my MY15 Outlander and everything works perfectly. You don't need to unplug the dongle after each use, and I find it just reconnects automatically to my android tablet whenever I start PHEV watchdog up again. This is one of the recommended dongles from the site, and it definitely works. Haven't tested the fault diagnosis out of the dog, but you can connect to android or iOS devices. The packing is really nice too, and there is a decent set of instructions with it for pairing to various devices.
